Job description

Executive Assistant to the CEO About Lumbra Lumbra builds the vendor-neutral operating system for agentic AI in high-consequence environments. In our first ten months we won four fully competed prime contracts across the U.S. Government, every one of them deploying into classified spaces. We are live on JWICS. We were selected from a field of 200+ companies for a defense innovation challenge and won it. We beat two established defense primes on the same program and earned the follow-on, now in execution. Our team comes from the CIA unit that planned the bin Laden mission, MIT, frontier AI labs, and Special Operations. About the Role Aaron operates across an unusually broad surface: classified customer meetings inside the IC and DoD, partnerships with frontier AI labs and primes, board and investor relationships, conference panels, and the daily operating cadence of a fast-scaling defense tech company. We need an Executive Assistant who can hold that surface together - treat executive support as a craft, sit in on extraordinary meetings and earn the discretion that comes with them, and own parts of the company most EAs never touch. Aaron's office runs on you. What You'll Own * Own the CEO's calendar, inbox, travel, and operating rhythm - the constant prioritization work that keeps the most consequential meetings from being squeezed by the loudest ones.
* Prepare the CEO for meetings across USG principals, IC and DoD customers, primes, investors, frontier-lab partners, and recruits: briefing packets, pre-reads, and the situational context that turns a 30-minute meeting into a productive one.
* Coordinate classified and customer-site logistics: visit requests, secure travel, base access, SCIF visit coordination, and the operational discipline that ensures the CEO arrives ready.
* Handle sensitive information and communications with founder-level discretion: investor updates, board materials, personnel matters, and the steady flow of context running through a CEO's office.
* Take ownership of executive-function projects that don't belong to any single team: event logistics, offsite planning, conference coordination, partnership follow-through.
* Support board prep, investor relations, and external communications, partnering with leadership to keep the CEO's external-facing work clean.You'll Work Alongside CIA officers, MIT engineers, Special Operations combat vets, and applied AI engineers from frontier labs like Anthropic and Google. You'll make decisions that immediately affect national security. You'll own part of a company early and when it matters.
This Role Is Not For Someone looking for a 9-to-5, someone who needs constant direction, or someone uncomfortable holding information they cannot share with anyone.
Preferred Qualifications * Prior EA experience at a defense tech, national security, or government-adjacent company
* Clearance eligibility (no disqualifying factors), with willingness to be sponsored if needed
* Familiarity with classified visit logistics (visit requests, base access, SCIF coordination)
* DC-area network and familiarity with the rhythms of government-facing workMust-haves * 5+ years as an Executive Assistant supporting a CEO, founder, or comparable senior principal
* Experience interfacing with senior external stakeholders (government, military, board, investors, or executive-level partners)
* Polished written and verbal communication
* Demonstrated discretion at the founder/CEO level
* U.S. citizenship
* Based in the National Capital RegionBenefits * Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans
* Premiums 100% covered by Lumbra for all employees
* Exceptionally low premiums for spouses and dependents
* Basic life insurance and disability 100% covered for all employees by Lumbra
* Option to purchase additional life insurance available
* Take the time off that you need, when you need it' paid time off, not accrual based
* Generous company holiday calendar including a holiday shutdown in December
* Supportive leave of absence program including time off for military service, medical events, and parental leave
* Full 401(k) retirement plan for all full-time eligible employees
* Company-funded commuter benefits
* Free access to on-site gym at office
