What is an executive architect?

Executive Architects are senior-level professionals responsible for overseeing and managing the architectural design and construction process of a project, typically serving as the lead liaison between clients, design teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies. They ensure that design intent is maintained while coordinating technical documentation, compliance with building codes, and the overall execution of construction. Executive Architects often manage large teams, set project standards, and resolve complex architectural and technical challenges throughout the project's lifecycle.

How does an executive architect typically collaborate with stakeholders across different departments during large-scale projects?

Executive Architects play a pivotal role in aligning architectural vision with business objectives by working closely with stakeholders from IT, operations, and executive leadership. They often facilitate cross-functional meetings to gather requirements, address technical concerns, and ensure that all departments are represented in architectural decisions. Effective communication and negotiation skills are essential, as Executive Architects must balance competing priorities while maintaining the integrity of the overall design. This collaborative approach ensures that solutions are scalable, sustainable, and aligned with organizational goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an executive architect, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Executive Architect, you need an advanced understanding of architectural design, project management, and building codes, typically supported by a professional architecture degree and licensure. Proficiency in BIM software (such as Revit), CAD tools, and knowledge of sustainability certifications like LEED is essential. Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and effective communication distinguish top performers in this role. These skills are crucial for overseeing complex projects, leading multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring innovative, compliant, and client-focused architectural solutions.

  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor by guiding customers through AI adoption, evaluating technical tradeoffs, and developing technical assets.

Job description

Midstream is an AI-native financial operating system for health systems, founded by experienced entrepreneurs and backed by top-tier investors. We give finance, supply chain, and managed care teams real-time visibility into where margin is at risk, with a precise action plan for capturing it before it's gone.
Purpose-built for healthcare's complexity, Midstream transforms structured, unstructured, and external data into instant, contract-aware insights that drive smarter decisions. Our AI agents unify spend and revenue operations across the full back-office, learning and adapting with every interaction and delivering always-on intelligence that no point solution or one-off engagement can match.
We're compressing months to minutes and turning post-period hindsight into in-the-moment foresight. The tempo of healthcare finance is changing, and Midstream is leading it.

You will lead technical discovery, solution architecture, architecture discussions, and technical validation-helping customers understand how Midstream integrates into complex healthcare environments and how our platform delivers measurable operational and financial outcomes.
As a trusted technical advisor, you will guide executive stakeholders, enterprise architects, security teams, and technical leaders throughout the customer journey-from initial discovery and solution design through implementation planning and deployment. You'll help customers evaluate technical approaches, navigate enterprise architecture decisions, and build confidence that Midstream can integrate securely and scale within their existing technology ecosystem.
This is a high-impact, customer-facing role. Beyond supporting strategic customer engagements, you will help establish the technical foundation that enables Midstream to scale by developing repeatable architecture patterns, demonstration environments, implementation frameworks, and technical assets that elevate the entire commercial organization while shaping the evolution of our product.

Develop AI Evaluation FrameworksHelp customers define evaluation criteria, success metrics, governance models, and implementation approaches that enable safe and successful deployment of AI within healthcare environments
Build and maintain scalable technical assets Continuously improve demonstration environments, technical documentation, reference architectures, integration patterns, implementation playbooks, and reusable technical frameworks that enable Midstream to scale.
Shape the product Partner closely with Product and Engineering to identify recurring implementation patterns, customer needs, and integration opportunities that inform product strategy and future platform capabilities.
