Job description

Antitrust & Competition Associate Attorney

Direct Counsel is seeking an Antitrust & Competition Associate Attorney to join a prestigious Am Law firm in New York City or Washington, D.C.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney with 1-3 years of antitrust experience to join a nationally recognized Antitrust & Competition practice. The team advises clients on complex antitrust investigations, merger reviews, government enforcement actions, high-stakes litigation, and cross-border regulatory matters across industries including technology, artificial intelligence, life sciences, and energy.

Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in complex antitrust investigations, government enforcement actions, and private antitrust litigation.

  • Advise clients on merger reviews before the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

  • Assist with cross-border transaction advocacy and global regulatory strategy.

  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other substantive litigation filings.

  • Conduct sophisticated legal research and analysis on antitrust and competition law issues.

  • Advise clients on antitrust compliance, risk management, and competition law developments.

  • Support all phases of litigation, including discovery, trial preparation, and regulatory proceedings.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary legal teams on high-profile domestic and international matters.

Qualifications
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

  • Active membership in the New York or District of Columbia Bar.

  • 1-3 years of antitrust, competition, regulatory, or government investigations experience at a major law firm.

  • Experience with antitrust litigation, merger reviews, government investigations, or competition counseling is preferred.

  • Prior judicial clerkship or DOJ/FTC experience is preferred.

  • Familiarity with antitrust issues affecting the technology sector is highly preferred.

  • Excellent legal research, analytical, drafting, writing, and oral advocacy skills.

  • Strong academic credentials.

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
