Job description

Opportunity Overview

The Executive Vice President, Industrial Business Unit (EVP of Industrial) is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational execution, and financial performance of the Industrial Business Unit. This role will assess and build team capacity to achieve the growth strategy, while ensuring market competitiveness through commercial and operational excellence.

The EVP of Industrial will appreciate the entrepreneurial environment surrounding DeZURIK as well as the benefits and support associated with being part of the Granite community. DeZURIK joined the Granite community in 2004 and shares its 100-year sustainability objective. This is an excellent opportunity for a leader who appreciates the support of a clear commitment to long-term planning horizons.

Location

The Executive Vice President, Industrial Business Unit will be based in DeZURIK’s Sartell, Minnesota, headquarters, and the role will require 20-30% travel. Candidates close to other DeZURIK locations (including Houston, Texas; Charlotte, North Carolina; Toronto, Ontario; and Seattle, Washington) and/or major airports for efficient travel will also be considered.

The Position

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the EVP of Industrial leads one of two business units for DeZURIK with responsibility for advancing profitable growth, strengthening operational execution, and delivering consistent customer outcomes. This role requires a senior leader who can balance enterprise-level strategy with hands-on engagement—setting direction while remaining closely connected to customers, products, and operations across a complex organization.

The Industrial Business Unit serves a diverse set of global industrial end markets and operates across multiple manufacturing and commercial locations. The EVP of Industrial will lead a cross-functional organization encompassing sales, operations, customer service, and product management, with responsibility spanning engineered products, operational execution, and customer outcomes.

As a senior leader at DeZURIK, the EVP of Industrial is a key thought partner to the COO and executive team and plays an active role in shaping company-wide priorities related to growth, capital deployment, talent development, and operational excellence.

Principal elements of the EVP of Industrial include:

Strategic & Commercial Leadership

  • Oversee business growth aligned with the IBU strategic plan, targeting specific Industrial market sectors and key customer accounts.
  • Achieve commercial success by partnering with Sales and Marketing leaders to increase brand awareness and grow market share in core segments.
  • Identify emerging flow control trends to inform product positioning and new product development opportunities.

Operational Excellence

  • Drive operational excellence across multiple manufacturing sites by ensuring achievement of safety, quality, delivery, and production targets.
  • Reinforce a continuous improvement mindset through process standardization and automation.
  • Promote collaboration with Engineering, Supply Chain, other business units, and strategic business partners, including Finance and Human Resources.

Financial & Value Creation Leadership

  • Optimize business unit financial performance through full P&L ownership, while establishing budgets, forecasts, and performance goals.
  • Oversee strategic capital allocation for the business unit, evaluating opportunities and prioritizing projects that deliver strong returns while supporting long-term growth.

People, Culture & Enterprise Leadership

  • Develop team capacity by building, mentoring, and retaining strong cross-functional groups throughout the business unit, including Sales, Operations, Customer Service, and Product Management.
  • Partner with company and owner resources to identify and pursue acquisition opportunities, supporting integration activities.

Candidiate Profile

The successful candidate will be a seasoned executive with a strong general management or business unit leadership background and a demonstrated ability to lead complex, industrial manufacturing organizations. This individual will bring a balanced orientation across commercial leadership, operational execution, and financial discipline, with the capability to translate strategy into results through strong, accountable teams. The EVP of Industrial will be recognized as a credible, hands-on leader who can operate effectively at both the strategic and tactical levels while maintaining a clear focus on long-term value creation.

The ideal candidate will possess full P&L ownership experience developed through senior leadership roles in manufacturing or industrial businesses, with exposure to multi-site operations and diverse end markets. This experience should include leading organizations through growth, organizational development, and operational improvement initiatives, while maintaining strong customer focus and market competitiveness. A background in engineered, configurable, or technically complex products is strongly preferred, particularly within flow control or adjacent industrial sectors.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of developing and executing multi-year business strategies that drive sustainable growth and profitability. This individual will be comfortable partnering closely with sales, marketing, operations, and product leaders to align commercial priorities with operational capabilities. Sound business judgment, disciplined decision-making, and the ability to balance near-term execution with long-term strategic positioning are essential.

This executive will be an effective people leader with a history of building, mentoring, and retaining high-performing leadership teams. The ability to establish immediate credibility at all levels of the organization—on the plant floor, with customers, and within the executive leadership team—is critical. The EVP of Industrial must also demonstrate the capacity to lead change thoughtfully within an already successful organization, strengthening systems, processes, and talent while honoring DeZURIK’s values and culture.

A bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related discipline is required; an advanced degree is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, or business development roles, including at least five years in senior leadership or general management positions. Experience with flow control products is strongly preferred; however, candidates with adjacent industrial manufacturing backgrounds who demonstrate the ability to quickly learn complex products and markets will also be considered.

Compensation & Benefits

We offer a competitive base salary in the $225,000 to $275,000 range, based on experience and qualifications, along with an annual bonus and the opportunity to participate in long-term incentives, including a stock appreciation rights (SARs) program.

Beyond pay, our market-leading benefits are designed to support your wellbeing. These include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, as well as short- and long-term disability coverage. We also provide a health savings account with company match, a retirement plan with employer contributions through Vanguard, and access to the Granite Assistance Fund for support when it’s needed most. We value time for rest and personal growth, offering generous paid time off, including volunteer time off and paid holidays.
