Job description

A Transportation Engineer 2 supports the project's PM and team through efficient plan production. Must be self-motivated individual that works well independently in a team-oriented environment.  Must be able to make independent & design decisions.

Responsibilities 

  1. Firm proficiency in developing more complex roadway and intersection alignments/layouts, right-of-way-plans, and drainage plans. 
  2. Firm understanding of hydrology and drainage design. 
  3. Proficient at phased ESPC plans and BMP design. 
  4. A firm understanding of GDOT Microstation and InRoads standards. 
  5. Ability to quickly grasp and apply new design procedures/ordinances.   
  6. Ability to coordinate with utility providers for utility relocations. 
  7. Efficiently generate cross sections and profiles in Microstation and InRoads/OpenRoads.   
  8. Preparation of Signing and Marking Plans. 
  9. Preparation of Construction Phasing Plans. 
  10. GDOT PDP experience and knowledge of GDOTs PPG and EDG. 
  11. Basic surveying knowledge and ability to interpret and evaluate the quality of survey data and documentation.
  12. Ability to prepare accurate cost estimates.
  13. Ability to anticipate project's needs in terms of scope and schedule, budget, client expectation and Southeastern Engineering, Inc. resources.
  14. Provide mentorship and knowledge to other engineers.
  15. Excellent communications and relationship building skills.
  16. Additional duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Civil Engineering or equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university. 
  • Minimum 4 year of related study and design experience.
  • Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) in Georgia required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) in Georgia preferred.
  • Firm understanding of Microstation, Inroads/OpenRoads.
  • Working knowledge of Hydraflow, Stormsewer, Hec-1, Hec-2.
  • Working knowledge Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project and Adobe/PDF Exchange.
  • Must possess current, valid driver’s license and Social Security Card or other documentation for E-Verify.  EOE.
