About Us

Excel Medical Imaging is an independent, physician- and family-owned radiology practice proudly serving the New Port Richey community since 2001. We are the regionโ€™s only full-service, freestanding diagnostic and interventional imaging center โ€” now also a designated Graduate Medical Education (GME) training site, offering a dynamic and collaborative learning environment for residents and clinical learners.

Our team provides cutting-edge imaging with personalized attention, free from hospital bureaucracy. Our motto, โ€œWe build our imageโ€ฆ one patient at a time,โ€ reflects our commitment to high-touch care, continuous improvement, and clinical excellence.

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Echo Ultrasound Technologist / Cardiac Sonographer to join our team on a part-time basis, 1โ€“2 days per week.

This role is specifically focused on diagnostic echocardiography / cardiac ultrasound, not general ultrasound. The ideal candidate is experienced in performing high-quality transthoracic echocardiograms, obtaining accurate measurements, recognizing technically adequate imaging windows, and working closely with interpreting physicians in a collaborative outpatient setting.

This is an excellent opportunity for a cardiac sonographer who values image quality, patient care, clinical accuracy, flexible scheduling, and a supportive physician-led environment without hospital bureaucracy.

Responsibilities
  • Perform adult transthoracic echocardiograms following established protocols and safety guidelines
  • Obtain high-quality 2D, M-mode, color Doppler, pulsed-wave Doppler, and continuous-wave Doppler images
  • Accurately perform cardiac measurements and documentation for physician interpretation
  • Assess image quality and obtain additional views as needed to support a complete diagnostic study
  • Review patient history, exam indications, prior imaging, and relevant clinical information when appropriate
  • Prepare preliminary technical worksheets and templates to ensure clear, accurate study documentation
  • Communicate appropriately with radiologists, cardiologists, referring providers, and clinical staff according to practice protocols
  • Provide a calm, reassuring, and professional experience for patients throughout the exam
  • Maintain exam room readiness, ultrasound equipment, probes, supplies, and disinfection standards
  • Assist with echo-related workflow, scheduling coordination, and quality improvement initiatives as needed
  • Participate in an education-focused environment with residents, physicians in training, and clinical learners when appropriate
  • Stay current with evolving echocardiography techniques, ASE standards, compliance requirements, and best practices
  • Support a culture of teamwork, clinical excellence, patient-centered care, and continuous learning
Qualifications
  • ARDMS RDCS or CCI RCS credential preferred
  • Registry-eligible candidates with strong echocardiography experience may be considered
  • BLS certification required
  • 1+ year of echocardiography experience preferred; strong outpatient or cardiology imaging experience is a plus
  • Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, Doppler principles, and standard echo measurements
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining excellent image quality and workflow efficiency
  • Strong technical, communication, documentation, and patient care skills
  • Comfortable collaborating with interpreting physicians and clinical staff
  • Commitment to lifelong learning, quality improvement, and high-quality patient-centered care
Preferred Experience
  1. Adult transthoracic echocardiography
  2. Stress echo experience
  3. Contrast or bubble study experience, if applicable
  4. Experience with structured reporting or echo worksheets
  5. Experience in outpatient imaging, cardiology, or physician-led clinical settings
  6. Familiarity with ASE guidelines and quality standards
  7. Teaching, mentoring, or working with residents and clinical learners
Why Work With Us
  • Competitive part-time pay at $50.00 per hour
  • Flexible schedule, 1โ€“2 days per week
  • Supportive, team-based culture that values your voice and input
  • Physician-led outpatient environment with direct clinical collaboration
  • Educational exposure with residents and physicians in training
  • No hospital bureaucracy
  • Opportunity to work alongside a growing practice that blends diagnostic imaging, interventional radiology, and nuclear medicine under one roof
  • High-touch patient care environment focused on quality, efficiency, and clinical excellence
Benefits / Perks
  • Competitive hourly pay
  • Flexible part-time scheduling
