Overview POSITION TITLE (Oracle title) TEACHER WORKING TITLE Alternative Learning Center Teacher SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT School Site LOCATION School Site PAY GRADE Classroom Teacher FLSA STATUS Exempt ELIGIBILITY FOR EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT Yes WORK WEEK SCHEDULE Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) Position is not eligible for hybrid telework workweek POSITION PURPOSE: Designs and facilitates a restorative learning environment to support students behavioral and academic success by building positive relationships with students. Responsible for delivering targeted social-emotional learning (SEL) and academic instruction to students facing behavioral challenges while ensuring students remain on track with core curriculum during intervention periods. Works to reduce out-of-school suspensions and classroom disruptions while increasing student seat time within the core instructional setting by implementing evidence-based interventions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs) Extensive knowledge of instructional delivery methods, including the use of technology and secondary curricular standards; Extensive knowledge of trauma informed care and/or Restorative Practices; Extensive knowledge of effective instructional strategies; Extensive knowledge of effective behavior management techniques for adolescent students; Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google apps; Strong interpersonal relationship skills; Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills; Ability to collect and analyze data to make informed decisions; Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback; excellent public speaking and presentation skills; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, students, parents, and the community. EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university. CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator's License in a teaching content area.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university; Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator's License at the master's level; Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator's License in Special Education; Experience creating and implementing individual student contracts, and functional behavior assessments/behavior intervention plans (FBA/BIP); Crisis Prevention and Intervention certification. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Implements curriculum aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for individual students. Implements evidence-based Restorative Practices and/or SEL interventions to support student success.

Maintains a suitable learning environment, including planning and organization of the classroom, and provides classroom management. Communicates regularly and consistently with students, their parents, classroom teachers, support personnel and administration. Maintains accurate class records, including daily attendance.

Attends school based and central services meetings which may involve hours outside of the instructional day. Serves on the MTSS Intervention Team and/or School-based problem solving team at their school. Follows all local and state policies and procedures and complies with the instructions and or directives from supervisors.

Acts as a liaison between the base school and the Alternative Learning Programs, providing transition support for students undergoing disciplinary reassignment, as needed. Performs other related duties, as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This job operates in a school environment.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, students, parents, and other service providers. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force.

The work frequently requires driving automotive equipment.
