Job description

Job Title: Director — Excel Christian Early Learning Center

Location: Bowie, Maryland

Organization: Excel Church - Excel Christian Early Learning Center

Schedule: Full-Time

Anticipated Opening: 2026 School Year

Excel Christian Early Learning Center is seeking a qualified, experienced, and mission-minded Director to lead the launch and daily operation of our Christian early learning program in Bowie, Maryland.

Excel Christian Early Learning Center will serve children through a faith-based, nurturing, academically focused, and structured environment. Our program is designed to support young learners socially, emotionally, spiritually, and academically while partnering with families to help children grow in confidence, character, and readiness for school.

The Director will provide leadership over daily operations, licensing compliance, staff supervision, curriculum implementation, family engagement, enrollment growth, and the overall culture of the center.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the daily operation of the early learning center.
  • Ensure compliance with Maryland child care licensing requirements, MSDE standards, health and safety regulations, and all applicable policies.
  • Lead, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate teachers, aides, and support staff.
  • Implement and maintain a Christian education-focused learning environment.
  • Support curriculum planning for preschool, kindergarten readiness, and age-appropriate learning.
  • Develop strong relationships with parents, families, staff, church leadership, and community partners.
  • Oversee enrollment, classroom assignments, staff scheduling, and operational systems.
  • Maintain accurate records, licensing documentation, emergency procedures, and child files.
  • Help establish a positive, professional, faith-filled culture for students, families, and staff.
  • Support the launch and growth of the center as a high-quality Christian early learning program.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Director of a Christian education-focused daycare, preschool, early learning center, or comparable child care program.
  • Strong knowledge of Maryland child care licensing requirements and early childhood education standards.
  • Demonstrated experience managing staff, enrollment, parent relations, compliance, and center operations.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to Christian values, child development, family engagement, and educational excellence.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with church leadership and community partners.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in any field
  • Maryland Director credentials or qualifications required for child care center leadership.
  • Experience launching, expanding, or improving an early learning center.
  • Experience with Christian curriculum, kindergarten readiness, and before/after care programming.

Required Christian Commitment:

  • Demonstrated commitment to Christian faith and values, as exemplified by active membership in a Christian, Bible-believing church.
  • Ability to support and uphold the faith-based mission, culture, and educational philosophy of Excel Christian Early Learning Center.
  • Willingness to model Christian character, integrity, compassion, and professionalism in interactions with children, families, staff, and church leadership.
