Job description

Miami Dade College is now accepting applications for Director, Excellence Center for Educator Learning (ExCEL). The Director of Excellence Center for Educator Learning (ExCEL) provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight for a portfolio of educator preparation and professional learning programs within the School of Education (SOE). The position ensures all programs align with institutional goals and state standards while fostering high-quality, forward-thinking educator development

 What you will be doing:
  • Provides strategic leadership and oversight for all ExCEL programs, ensuring effective service delivery and alignment with institutional and state goals.
  • Plans, implements, and maintains program operations in compliance with Miami Dade College (MDC) and the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE).
  • Develops and sustains partnerships with public, charter, and private schools, FLDOE, and community organizations to enhance collaboration and student opportunities.
  • Designs and leads recruitment and outreach initiatives in coordination with community relations staff, including public presentations and multimedia campaigns.
  • Manages student application and interview processes to ensure alignment with eligibility criteria and program expectations.
  • Supervises and supports ExCEL personnel, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous professional development.
  • Oversees data collection, monitoring, and reporting for the Educator Preparation Institute (EPI) and other programs to ensure accountability and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepares and submits performance and compliance reports to institutional and external stakeholders.
  • Writes and manages grant proposals to secure funding for program sustainability and growth.
  • Oversees certification-related documentation, including transcripts and Statements of Status of Eligibility, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborates with faculty and college committees to implement curricular enhancements that reflect evolving best practices in educator preparation.
  • Maintains expert knowledge of state certification policies and serves as a thought partner in aligning program practices with evolving professional standards.
  • Represents SOE at relevant organizational meetings at the local, state, and national level.
  • Participates in School and College committees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
 
What you need to succeed:
  • Master’s degree in Education or related field and four (4) years experience in a K-12 setting. 
  • Minimum of two (2) years administrative experience.
  • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution.
