Job description

Overview
Responsible for the effective use of assigned staff, for maintaining a clean, fresh environment in the areas designed and assigned. Ensures prompt response to requests for environmental services and that supplies are available for staff and used in a safe and cost-effective manner.
Responsibilities
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(*Essential Functions)
  1. Conducts daily inspection of Environmental Services cleaning equipment for cleanliness and proper operation.
  2. Writes work orders as necessary and documents in the work order log.
  3. Ensures daily at the beginning or before the shift that employees have the supplies and equipment to maintain maximum productivity 100% of the time.
  4. Holds employees accountable for a clean, fresh presentable work that they are assigned for 100% of the time.
  5. Inspects all assigned areas frequently during the course of the shift and notes results on quality improvement reports 100% of the time.
  6. Oversees cleanliness in all areas of the hospital and reports to appropriate supervisor or sees that area is cleaned.
  7. Monitors routinely on each shift the amount of chemicals, supplies, and equipment used to control waste and/or pilferage.
  8. Organizes, plans, and establishes, as required daily, the work tasks and delegates to the appropriate staff so that work assignments are fairly divided and the priorities for work to be completed are met 100% of the time in a clean, fresh, and presentable manner.

  • Knowledge of products, equipment, and systems used in Environmental Services.
  • Ability to deal with conflict and confrontation in an effective way.
  • Ability to hold employees accountable.

  • Ability to communicate with staff effectively and utilize employee ideas.
  • Ability to plan work and priorities daily and weekly objectives.
  • Ability to motivate staff, delegate fairly and effectively.
  • Ability to implement changes effectively and demonstrate initiative and good judgement.
  • Ability to follow-up on details.

EDUCATION
  • High School Diploma/GED Equivalent Required
  • Associates Management Preferred
  • Prefer housekeeping and/or sanitation experience.
  • 2 Healthcare/Medical - Environmental Required
