Job description
The 2034 Organizing Committee is seeking a Director of Stakeholder Services & Events. This management role will help lead how the organization plans, coordinates, and delivers high-quality stakeholder services, meetings, visits, events, and other experiences in the journey to and at the 2034 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. This position helps support Utah 2034's Games vision, particularly as it relates to elevating the Games experience.
This position facilitates the strategy, structure, development and execution of key stakeholder services and event delivery. It serves as a driver of coordinated experience planning, protocol, guest services, visit management, event readiness, and cross-functional alignment for stakeholder groups, delivery partners, and other priority audiences.
Responsibilities include defining stakeholder service levels, coordinating event and visit planning, managing stakeholder touchpoints and logistics, identifying risks and dependencies, preparing briefing materials, and ensuring that stakeholder experiences are delivered with consistency, professionalism, cultural awareness, and operational discipline. The incumbent will also work with members of the Games Delivery division to create and develop a stakeholder services team to ensure high-quality delivery of all its responsibilities.
The position helps lead Games-wide stakeholder services planning, as well as pre-Games event coordination, stakeholder visits, delegation support, protocol-related logistics, and cross-functional coordination. The role will work closely with other OCOG teams and external stakeholders as appropriate to ensure engagements, meetings, site visits, hospitality moments, and event experiences are well planned, well briefed, and effectively delivered.
Key Responsibilities
- Stakeholder Services Leadership
- Contribute to the development and evolution of the organizing committee's stakeholder led-planning model, including helping define stakeholder service standards, planning tools, experience protocols, and service expectations.
- Guide stakeholder and Games service-related planning to ensure experience objectives, audiences, milestones, risks, dependencies, and decision points are clearly defined and aligned across the organization and with delivery partners.
- Translate strategic priorities into practical stakeholder experience plans, readiness milestones, service standards, and reporting structures that support execution and Games-time delivery.
- Event Planning, Visits & Delegation Support
- Lead or coordinate Utah 2034 delegation planning for attendance, participation, observation, other activities at other Games, including LA28, Alpes 2030, Brisbane 2032, and other important Olympic and Paralympic Movement events.
- Lead planning and coordination for priority stakeholder events, site visits, workshops, meetings, delegations, observer activities, and other engagement moments hosted or supported by the organizing committee.
- Oversee the development of event concepts, run-of-show materials, briefing notes, guest journeys, logistics plans, staffing plans, and follow-up processes that support a seamless stakeholder experience.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners on venues, transportation, accreditation, security, communications, protocol, accessibility, hospitality, and other operational requirements for stakeholder engagements and events.
- Stakeholder Experience & Service Standards
- Contribute to the development and disciplined use of stakeholder service standards, protocols, guest experience tools, contact management processes, and event planning systems.
- Identify opportunities to improve stakeholder coordination, service delivery, event logistics, information flow, and follow-up practices across the organizing committee.
- Partner across functions to align expectations, clarify roles and responsibilities, manage service levels, and improve productivity, visibility, and accountability for stakeholder-facing activities.
- Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Build and lead a high-performing team, including setting priorities, mentoring team members, and fostering collaboration across the organizing committee.
- Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing culture and perform other leadership duties as assigned in support of Games Delivery priorities.
Required Qualifications
This is a leadership opportunity ideal for a strategic, service-oriented, organized, and collaborative person with deep experience in stakeholder engagement, event operations, and the Olympic Games. Required qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in business, event management, hospitality, sport management, or a related field. Master's degree in a related field preferred.
- 10-15+ years of progressive experience in Olympic Games stakeholder services, event operations, delegation management, protocol, stakeholder engagement, program management, or a related function. Multiple Winter Games experience preferred.
- Experience planning and delivering complex stakeholder events, senior-level meetings, site visits, workshops, delegations, hospitality moments, or major event engagement programs.
- Experience designing or leading stakeholder services, event planning, guest services, protocol, or engagement coordination functions for complex organizations
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional coordination efforts in a dynamic and deadline-driven environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information for senior leadership and stakeholders
- Strong organizational judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Experience building trust, alignment, and accountability across diverse teams and stakeholder groups
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with evolving priorities
- Experience working with high-wealth individuals, Olympic and Paralympic Family Members, public sector partners, sport organizations, etc.
- Familiarity with event planning systems, stakeholder databases, run-of-show tools, contact management processes, briefing templates, and reporting tools that support coordinated stakeholder service delivery.
- Experience with observer programs, delegation operations, stakeholder protocol, hospitality planning, international engagement, or major sport event coordination.
- Multilingual skills or experience in multicultural and international settings.
Tools, Equipment & Conditions
- Ability to work onsite in an office environment based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
- The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other standard office equipment.
- Prolonged sitting and regular use of hands and wrists for typing and other computer-based work.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings or additional hours, as needed to support stakeholder engagements, meetings, site visits, events, travel, and operational priorities.
