Job Title: Behavioral Health Aide
Department: Behavioral Health
Reports To: Behavioral Health Director
Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt


Position Summary

The Behavioral Health Aide provides essential support services to individuals, families, and groups within the Behavioral Health department. This role involves observing and monitoring patients, offering mentorship, and assisting with various patient activities. The Behavioral Health Aide has a foundational understanding of substance abuse and/or mental health treatment and plays a key role in fostering a supportive and welcoming environment for patients.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients and family members through co-facilitating support groups, focus groups, recovery training, and community events. Provide mentorship to help patients navigate the behavioral health system and build natural and familial support networks.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external colleagues to ensure continuity of care for patients. Assist in identifying needs and help overcome barriers to care, such as attendance or scheduling issues.
  • Contact patients via phone or in-person outreach to resolve attendance issues and encourage continued participation in treatment.
  • Attend clinical staff meetings and participate in community health outreach events. Assist with Community Wellness Program, NATIVE Youth Leadership Camp, NATIVE Youth Summer Program, Healthy Heart Powwow, and more.
  • Help patients recognize their strengths and successes while promoting Sacred Hospitality in all interactions.
  • Maintain confidential patient records in accordance with agency policies. Serve as a welcoming, calm, and courteous presence in both in-person and phone interactions.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned to support the Behavioral Health department.


Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Indigenous cultures, Indian Country, social service systems, and community resources.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet conflicting deadlines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on clarity, timeliness, and professionalism.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in both leadership and peer roles within a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and the ability to learn additional software programs such as Greenway/Intergy and Provider One. Familiarity with operating common office equipment such as computers, printers, scanners, and photocopiers.
  • Commitment to providing respectful and compassionate service to patients and colleagues.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check, OIG check, and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.


Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift items weighing 25-30 lbs.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Capacity to manage stress in a fast-paced work environment.
