Job description

UNM Food, LoboCard Office, and the University Club are seeking a student employee to serve as a Guest Services and Event Assistant. This position will interact with customers, clients, and staff members in all three departments on a regular basis with a focus on operations and events at the University Club at The Championship Golf Course.  

A successful candidate will be someone with strong customer service skills, a friendly demeanor, excellent attention to detail, and a flexible schedule. Evening and weekend hours may be necessary depending on the event schedule. 

Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:  

  • Assisting the University Club manager with daily operations and special event planning for members.  
  • Delivering excellent customer service to faculty, staff, and students in each interaction. 
  • Giving tours of the event space. 
  • Scheduling events within our event management software. 
  • Answer phone call and email inquiries about renting meeting rooms or event space. 
  • Assisting clients and coordinating schedules with event planning logistics, catering, and on-site event coordination. 
  • On-site facilitation of events ensuring that event operations are in accordance with event goals and objective; maintains relationships with attendees and resolves or manages the resolution of issues and problems as they arise.
  • Plans, schedules and coordinates logistical activities for special events, which may include arrangements for registration, meeting facilities, food services, audio visual equipment with the client contact.
  • Maintains records, reports, and conference and special event files as required in Excel, Word or PowerPoint. 
  • Assist with administrative duties for multiple departments.  
  • Assisting UNM Food with inventory management, vending solutions, and other various special projects. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, adhere to a dependable schedule, and communicate scheduling needs in a timely manner.
