Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) is a community of passionate aviation enthusiasts, and the only association of its kind to offer the fun and camaraderie of sharing the love of flying, building, and restoring recreational aircraft. Our vision is to expand an already vibrant and growing aviation community. EAA hosts the AirVenture Fly-In annually at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. This event is EAA's annual convention and draws more than 650,000 attendees and 10,000 aircraft.

SUMMARY
Responsible for delivering the education curriculum at EAA for K-12 groups, Scout groups and special events. This is a part-time position based on educational event needs on the weekends.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Teach EAA education programs focused on informative and hands-on educational interaction with students in the areas of aerodynamic forces and explanation of mechanics and physical properties of aviation.
  2. Review lesson plans in preparation for delivering EAA education.
  3. Prepare classroom for education programs.
  4. Teach at special events including Space Day, Winter Flight Fest, EAA GirlVenture Camp, Teacher Day, and other events as needed.
  5. Embrace and support the EAA mission and perform safe practices in the workplace and aviation environment.
  6. All other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Two years in an education related setting (teaching, assistant teacher, student teacher, counselor, training, etc.).
  • Understanding of the principles of flight.
  • Working hours will vary as needed on weekends and during the summer.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Teaching in a K-12 setting

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Typical office setting. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Preparation for AirVenture or other events may require lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, standing and walking for extended periods of time while bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and push and pull motions.
