Part-Time Assistant, Student Life

The Part-Time Assistant, Student Life supports the Student Life Office by assisting with student events, programs, and services that foster engagement, leadership, and community on campus. This position provides clerical and event support, assists student organizations, and delivers customer service in a student-centered environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, promotion, and coordination of student activities, events, and programs
  • Provide clerical and front-desk support for the Student Life Office, including answering phones, greeting students, and managing inquiries
  • Support student clubs and organizations with event logistics, room reservations, and promotional materials
  • Assist with Student Government Association activities and programs
  • Maintain bulletin boards, digital signage, and campus event postings
  • Provide support for orientation, campus recruiting events, and community outreach activities
  • Assist with ID card production and inventory
  • Provide general office support including filing, data entry, and scheduling
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director, Athletics or designee

Work Environment:

The employee typically works in an office or other on campus environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties with frequent interaction with students, staff, and the public. May involve occasional evening or weekend work to support events. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office or other on campus event setting. The employee may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the workday.

Physical Demands:

The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to twenty (20) pounds.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least six (6) months of customer service, clerical, or related experience
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One (1) year of experience working in a higher education or student services setting
  • Experience assisting with events or student activities
  • Bilingual – English/Spanish

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong customer service skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a busy office environment
  • Problem-solving and creative thinking skills
  • Willingness to support diverse student populations in an inclusive environment
