What are some common challenges faced by event managers when coordinating large-scale events, and how can these be effectively managed?

Event Managers often encounter challenges such as last-minute changes, coordinating multiple vendors, and ensuring seamless communication among stakeholders. Effective management involves meticulous planning, maintaining a detailed timeline, and using event management software to track progress and responsibilities. Building strong relationships with reliable vendors and establishing clear communication protocols with the team can also help address unexpected issues quickly and efficiently. Flexibility and problem-solving skills are essential to adapt to changing circumstances and deliver successful events.

What does an event manager do?

Event managers plan, organize, and supervise events, such as business conferences, weddings, and festivals. They handle all the arrangements required to make the event run smoothly. Event managers determine what the client needs and expects; then they coordinate the preparations leading up to the event, including booking venues, scheduling transportation, and selecting the food and decorations. They may even need to hire staff for the event. Event managers may need to employ reliable waiters, entertaining DJs, and talented photographers. Event managers monitor payments and budget, and ensure the event meets all required safety regulations. Large-scale corporate gatherings require management, so the event manager often delegates and oversees planning tasks to focus on operating on-site the night of the occasion.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an event manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Event Manager, you need strong organizational skills, project management experience, and often a degree in hospitality, marketing, or a related field. Familiarity with event management software, budgeting tools, and customer relationship management (CRM) systems is typically required. Outstanding communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities help you manage teams and client expectations effectively. These skills are vital to ensure seamless event execution, client satisfaction, and the ability to handle unforeseen challenges.

Job description

** EventMobi is a remote-first company and this is a fully remote position. You may reside anywhere in Canada provided you are able to accommodate Eastern time working hours.

ABOUT YOU

Your events experience goes beyond internal company gatherings. You’ve worked in a professional events environment — a conference, association, agency, or corporate events team — and you think in run-of-shows, registration flows, and attendee journeys. You understand the full event lifecycle, from planning and logistics through on-site execution and post-event wrap-up. Extra credit if you’ve worked directly with clients or attendees and know what it takes to deliver a seamless event experience.

WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN US?

We are an award-winning event tech startup with teams in Toronto, Berlin, and Manila, proudly serving thousands of customers worldwide. Our commitment to innovation drives us to continuously enhance our products, keeping us at the forefront of the latest event technology trends.

As an Event Success Manager at EventMobi, you’ll play a key role in empowering our customers’ success. Acting as their strategic advisor, you’ll spend your days proactively educating, onboarding, strategizing, problem-solving, and implementing cutting-edge technology and production solutions for our top-tier clients. Collaboration is at the heart of your role—you’ll work closely with our Account Management, Product, and Customer Support teams to ensure our customers not only love using EventMobi but return year after year.
WHAT YOUR WORK WILL FOCUS ON:

  • Serve as a trusted partner and strategic advisor to professional event planners and marketers at large corporations and associations, helping them implement event technology and execute successful events.
  • Lead customer onboarding, strategy sessions, and relationship-building to drive adoption and value generation from EventMobi products.
  • Guide customers through technical product training with an events-first mindset — delivering hands-on enablement that prepares teams to execute high-impact events on our platform.
  • Manage full-service event contracts end-to-end, overseeing multiple concurrent events with varying scopes, timelines, and complexity.
  • Lead proactive project management across the entire event lifecycle — from planning and build through live execution and post-event follow-up.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Customer Support, Product, AV, and Sales) to coordinate requirements, resolve issues, and deliver seamless event experiences.
  • Monitor customer health and success metrics, identify risks early, and take action to drive adoption, retention, and long-term success.
  • Conduct regular customer touchpoints including strategy sessions and quarterly reviews to align on outcomes and optimize future events.
  • Maintain accurate account, project, and communication records in HubSpot and internal tools.
  • Support live events as needed, including occasional evenings, weekends, or travel for on-site or hybrid event support.
  • Share customer feedback and improvement ideas with internal teams to continuously enhance processes, products, and the overall customer experience.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience planning or coordinating professional B2B events: conferences, trade shows, corporate meetings, or association events.
*Experience with internal company events alone does not meet this requirement.
  • Demonstrated experience using event technology — registration platforms, event apps, or virtual event platforms. Familiarity with tools such as Cvent, Eventbrite, Bizzabo, Hopin, or similar is required.
  • A genuine interest in technology and its impact on the events industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical event organizers.
  • Top-notch organizational skills: you manage multiple projects simultaneously, document thoroughly, and follow through consistently.
  • An empathetic, problem-solving mindset — you care about delivering great outcomes for your clients.

NICE TO  HAVE:

  • 2-year college diploma or 4-year degree in hospitality or events management.
  • Experience working with HubSpot, Salesforce, or other CRMs.
  • Previous experience supporting customer onboarding for technical products or SaaS platforms

WHAT WILL YOU GET FROM EVENTMOBI?

  • Compensation: Pay range between $65K and $80K CAD, according to experience + Stock Options + Benefits
  • Time-Off: 3-weeks vacation + 1-week Sick Days + 3-summer days + your birthday is a holiday (seriously! log-off and hang out with the fam or go do something fun) + opportunities to meet your co-workers in person throughout the year
  • Benefits: Dental, Health, Life, Mental Health Consultations (Green Shield Health Inc)
