Location: (On-Site) Houston, TX
Job Summary:
The Events Manager functions as the house manager/operational lead for the Events Department. The Events Manager will serve as the contact for public events, concerts, and private rentals of the exhibition. This position will require close attention to detail for internal and external communication, staffing, costing, and contract administration. Hands-on management experience in a fast-paced ticketed environment is paramount to the administrative capacity for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Scheduling venue staff including production, security, box office, and housekeeping by using projected client needs or expected attendance to minimize unnecessary labor expense
  • Works on operational and non-technical production issues for on-site and off-site events
  • Keeping date/event log book
  • Tracking all reimbursements including equipment and labor
  • Organizing operations on a molecular level with attention to detail while cognizant of the entire building operations
  • Maintaining inventory of events non-production equipment
  • Arranging all guaranteed settlements in advance
  • Advancing hospitality for artists and clients
  • Completing production advances to the best of my technical ability
  • Working with the Events Director to develop a Venue staff model and oversee procedures and staffing
  • Working as a manager on duty for the majority of after-hour event shifts
  • Working with GM, Director of Operations, and Director of Marketing to develop private rental offerings
  • Fielding inquiries for events, private rentals
  • Advancing rental agreements for the exhibit and concert venue
  • Manage internal and private rentals and event vendors
  • Ensure events integration with the Meow Wolf operation.
  • Coordinate with Food & Beverage, Operations and Security as it relates to events.
  • Address contractor/vendor correctional issues as needed.
  • Address on-site incidents as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years prior experience in the live music, venue & events industry
  • Minimum of 3 years prior experience working as a manager
  • Prior work experience with venue-based live music, live entertainment, theatre, or related industries including working closely with production, sound, and lighting design.
  • Prior experience with ticketed events and/or event ticket management.
  • Prior experience with accounting or expense & revenue tracking.
  • Prior experience with working closely with caterers, bar operations & alcohol service.
  • Prior work experience with event programming, execution, and booking.
  • The ability to generate, follow and enforce internal policies, procedures, and safety rules.
  • Possession of or willingness to immediately obtain an alcohol serving certification and learn and enforce State, local, and internal alcohol regulations.
  • Aptitude with computers, and programs such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and expense tracking and shift scheduling platforms, as well as project management and data analysis platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to give clear direction to team members in both a fast-paced work environment and a long-term office environment.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and scanners. This position also works in an indoor setting with exposure to noisy environments, dim lighting, strong visual effects including strobing lights, special effects, fog machines and small and/ or enclosed spaces.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical ability to walk, stand, take stairs/slides/elevators, and navigate the elements during the day and night. Employee may be required to remain in a sitting or standing position for prolonged periods, and repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
