As Director of Events, you'll orchestrate every detail of meetings and social events, ensuring seamless coordination between clients, the banquet team, and hotel management. Your role will be pivotal in delivering exceptional experiences by communicating promptly and precisely, turning plans into flawlessly executed events.

What will you be doing?

         Lead and manage the Events Department to achieve revenue, profitability, guest satisfaction, and operational performance goals.

         Develop, monitor, and manage departmental budgets, forecasts, revenue projections, expenses, and profitability in accordance with organizational objectives.

         Oversee event operations, staffing, and management coverage to ensure seamless execution of events, including weekends, holidays, and high-volume periods.

         Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication, event planning, site visits, problem resolution, and post-event follow-up to ensure guest satisfaction and retention.

         Collaborate with Food & Beverage leadership, Culinary teams, Banquet Operations, and Sales teams to establish service standards, create unique event experiences, and ensure successful event execution.

         Direct event planning activities, including VIP events, themed functions, special events, holiday programs, room set-ups, and banquet operations while ensuring adherence to client expectations and operational requirements.

         Ensure compliance with company policies, brand standards, billing procedures, contract requirements, information protection practices, and standard operating procedures.

         Lead, develop, and support team members to drive exceptional service, business growth, account retention, and achievement of departmental objectives.

         Maintain event records, client files, and business documentation while analyzing market trends and participating in community and professional organizations to support business development efforts.

         Promote a professional image of the organization by maintaining high standards of appearance, safety, cleanliness, guest service, and performing additional duties and special projects as assigned.

What do you bring to the role?

         Minimum five (5) years of catering, event management, hospitality sales, or event execution experience in a full-service or luxury hotel environment; Director-level experience preferred.

         Demonstrated experience managing complex events, multiple projects, and competing priorities while meeting deadlines and business objectives.

         Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, pricing, contract negotiations, and basic mathematical calculations related to event operations.

         Knowledge of food and beverage operations, banquet services, audiovisual requirements, room set-ups, and menu planning.

         Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with hotel property management and event planning systems preferred, including Marriott CI/TY.

         Exceptional interpersonal, customer service, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.

         Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively present information and communicate with clients, team members, and leadership.

         Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as business demands require.
