Member Services & Events Coordinator

Organization

The Lincoln Independent Business Association (LIBA) is a nonprofit, membership-based organization founded in 1980. LIBA's mission is to provide leadership and educational opportunities to the business community; educate the public about the vital role businesses play in creating jobs and supporting our community's quality of life; communicate the concerns of the business community to elected and appointed officials; and promote the free enterprise system.

Position Title: Member Services & Events Coordinator

Position Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Reports To: President & CEO

Position Overview

The Member Services & Events Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting LIBA's mission by delivering exceptional service to members, coordinating successful events, maintaining accurate membership records, and supporting the organization's communications and outreach efforts.

This position serves as a primary point of contact for members and prospective members and helps ensure that LIBA members experience a high level of value, engagement, and connection. The ideal candidate is highly organized, customer-service oriented, comfortable with technology, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.

Success in This Role Includes:

  • Delivering exceptional service and support to LIBA members.
  • Supporting membership engagement and retention efforts.
  • Maintaining accurate membership and event records.
  • Coordinating professional, well-executed events.
  • Ensuring timely and effective communication through social media, email, and the LIBA website.


Primary Responsibilities

Member Services & Membership Administration

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for members and prospective members by phone, email, and in person while delivering a professional, responsive, and positive member experience.
  • Maintain accurate member information within GrowthZone, including member-submitted updates and account changes.
  • Conduct a welcome call with each new member within 10 days of joining LIBA.
  • Assist members with accessing and utilizing applicable member portals and systems.
  • Record manual payments (5-10/month) and update member records as required.
  • Ensure attendance data from events is accurately recorded in the CRM.
  • Work with the Membership Committee and Ambassador Program:
    • Support onboarding efforts for new members
    • Assist with member engagement and retention initiatives
    • Foster member connections (member to member) and involvement.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve member engagement and enhance the member experience.


Event Coordination

  • Coordinate logistics for LIBA's recurring networking events, including Coffee & Contacts, BizNet events, ribbon cuttings, board meetings, and committee meetings.
  • Schedule member hosts and assist with event planning and execution.
  • Coordinate with venues, caterers, speakers, sponsors, and event partners.
  • Manage event registration, attendee communications, check-in processes (CRM)
  • Support committees with planning and execution of LIBA's signature annual events, including:
    • Celebration of Free Enterprise
    • Golf Tournament
    • Husker Tailgate Party
    • Poker Tournament
  • Prepare or coordinate preparation of event materials, presentations, signage, and attendee lists as needed.
  • Coordinate workflows for staff, volunteers, sponsors, and vendors before & during events
  • Ensure event spaces are properly set up and restored following events.


Communications & Marketing Support

  • Assist with the development of member-focused content including newsletters, member spotlights, articles, event promotions, and organizational updates.
  • Manage and maintain LIBA's social media presence.
  • Follow, engage with, repost, and share relevant member content when appropriate.
  • Create social media content promoting upcoming events, member achievements, and LIBA initiatives.
  • Maintain current and accurate information on the LIBA website, including:
    • Events (comes from CRM)
    • News articles
    • Board and committee information
    • Organizational announcements
  • Support communication efforts related to policy initiatives, advocacy activities, and member engagement campaigns.


Administrative Support

  • Assist the President & CEO and committee chairs with meeting preparation and logistics.
  • Prepare and distribute agendas at least one business day before meetings.
  • Attend Membership, Events, and Policy Committee meetings and record meeting minutes.
  • Order and maintain office supplies
  • Support special projects and organizational initiatives as assigned.


Qualifications

Required

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience managing social media platforms for an organization or business.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
  • Reliable transportation for meetings and events.

Preferred

  • Experience working with a CRM, association management system, or membership database.
  • Experience coordinating events, meetings, or community engagement activities.
  • Experience with GrowthZone, HubSpot, Canva, website content management systems, or similar platforms.
  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations, business associations, chambers of commerce, or membership organizations.

Education

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Event Management, Public Relations, Hospitality Management, or a related field.

Associate’s degree and/or equivalent professional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
