Position Summary:
  • The Development Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and administering the Smith Scholarship, supporting the organization's annual giving program, managing fundraising event logistics, and assisting with special projects that advance the mission and fundraising goals of Lutheran Family Services. Reporting to the Director of Development Operations, this position provides operational and administrative support to the Development team by coordinating scholarship activities, donor engagement initiatives, fundraising events, and department projects while ensuring efficient execution of day-to-day development functions.
Job Duties:
  • Develop and implement best practices for the Smith Scholarship, including the scholarship application process, recipient onboarding, review committee coordination, and stewardship initiatives.
  • Oversee recipient progress reporting by collecting, tracking, and analyzing student performance data; prepare reports for the selection committee; administer surveys; and maintain accurate scholarship records.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining scholarship communications, including website content, social media, marketing materials, newsletters, and earned media opportunities to promote the program.
  • Maintain project timelines to ensure the timely completion of scholarship recruitment, application review, recipient selection, onboarding, fund disbursements, reporting, and committee communications.
  • Coordinate all aspects of Giving Day activities, including registration, campaign planning, marketing coordination, matching gift opportunities, volunteer engagement, and in-person event logistics while serving as the primary liaison with host organizations and community partners.
  • Create and manage online event registration, fundraising, and donation pages in collaboration with the Development and Marketing teams.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute a minimum of four annual fundraising and stewardship events, overseeing event logistics, timelines, budgets, vendor management, and post-event evaluation.
  • Develop detailed event plans and production schedules, including venue selection, catering, audiovisual needs, room layouts, signage, guest experience, and event-day operations.
  • Recruit, train, and manage event volunteers and committees; coordinate sponsorship fulfillment, auction and raffle activities, and donor recognition in partnership with Development team members.
  • Solicit and coordinate in-kind donations, auction items, and event sponsorship benefits while ensuring accurate tracking and fulfillment.
  • Monitor event budgets, process invoices, reconcile expenses, and prepare post-event financial and performance reports.
  • Evaluate event outcomes by tracking attendance, fundraising results, participant feedback, and key performance metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of accuracy and organization.
  • Provide cross-functional administrative and operational support to the Development team and collaborate with internal departments to achieve organizational fundraising goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
