We are looking for a seasoned LIVE Sports Production expert to help oversee end-to-end operations of our expanding Sports slate. This role will help oversee partner-managed and potentially self-managed opportunities while ensuring smooth execution of high-profile live sports events. The ideal candidate should have experience in production management across major streaming platforms and/or broadcast networks at World Cup or Olympic level. This role will serve from a network touch point ensuring our external producing partners are effectively supported and managed. A focus of this role is to bring top-tier live sports production experience and expertise into the position, while supporting the overall live team production operations and technical strategy.
This position will report to the Director of Live Sports Production in Los Angeles, CA. Role based in the Los Angeles office. No remote options. This person must have Live Sports experience.
The Role
The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled and passionate expert in live sports production management, with a deep understanding of logistics, operations, and budgeting oversight. Ability to manage complex and intricate layers of production, help to pioneer the execution of new sports content to create workflows, help build to a steady state and maintain stability.
This role requires strong multitasking abilities, balancing complex production elements while driving innovation in sports content execution. The candidate should be self-motivated, adaptable, and detail-oriented, with the ability to support show management while navigating key producers, venues, locations, sports organizations, and industry operations.
Given the fast-paced, high-volume nature of this position, exceptional organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and communication are essential. The ideal candidate must be nimble, proactive, solution-driven, and capable of handling multiple productions simultaneously while maintaining a keen focus on detail.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee End-to-End Production - Support the execution of high-profile live sporting events from inception to final delivery
  • Streamline Workflows - Collaborate with internal operations and technical teams to optimize live content production processes
  • Core Team - Working closely with key internal stakeholders across Content, Post, Finance, Business Affairs, Tech, Engineering, Events and several other teams.
  • Curate Top Talent & Vendors - Assist in identifying and sourcing high-quality external production companies, producers, vendors, facilities, locations, sporting leagues, and BTL crew in the sports industry.
  • External Partnerships - Work closely with EICs and line producers to prepare and vet show budgets, schedules, providing feedback internally and externally on viability and risks.
  • Production Planning & Strategy - Full oversight of schedules, key crew, and production budget along with providing guidance and best practices across all facets of the production.
  • Location Scouting - Research and evaluate domestic and international filming locations that best align with creative vision, budget, and logistics along with tax incentive opportunities.
  • Additional Cross-Team Coordination - Support internal and external meetings to maintain alignment with Marketing, Publicity, Photo/AV Studio, Safety, Security, Events, Ads, Sponsorships, Integrated Marketing, etc.
  • Adaptability & Continuous Improvement - Stay flexible and proactive in adjusting to changing circumstances, embracing new challenges, and driving innovation
  • Engagement in Team Activities - Participate in offsites, training sessions, and team-building events for internal and external groups.
  • Live Analysis - create and design studio deck, spreadsheets, and tech assessments alongside production, finance and tech team.
  • Workflow Optimization - work closely with internal operations & technical teams as well as other production executives to streamline workflows across all apps within Netflix.

Qualifications:
  • 10+ years experience working in production management at a network, or production company and must have Live Sports production experience. Candidates will need to be a Director or VP level equivalent outside of Netflix.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and a high volume of responsibilities and projects (from evaluation to production through delivery) and courage to take educated risks while thinking outside the box and always responding in a timely manner.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Highly organized, with strong proficiency in Google Workspace (Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Mail and Drive) and Slack.
  • Ability to develop presentation decks, and confidently speak on Live production workflows within various internal and external forums.
  • Well-informed and curious about all aspects of production, technology and post-production
  • Team player who performs well under pressure.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Understanding how to prioritize and respond accordingly.
  • Passionate about live technology advancements and innovation.

Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $201,000.00 - $343,000.00.
