Job Description
BASIC FUNCTION:
• Organize and instruct, both lecture and laboratory courses in chemistry as commonly taught in the community college;
• Teach and organize the range of chemistry courses in the Yuba College curriculum;
• Undertake responsibility for laboratory, and chemical safety;
• Prepare course syllabi and outlines under approval of full-time chemistry faculty;
• Teach in accordance with the chemistry curriculum, including transfer/articulation agreements with colleges and universities;
• Teach day, evening, and/or weekend teaching assignments;
• Work cooperatively with staff in related disciplines;
• Provide guidance to a laboratory technician;
• Participate in department, division, and college-wide committees and meetings as requested; and
• Participate in the shared governance process; as requested
Essential Duties Summary
• Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Required Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate, by the final filing date, must possess the minimum qualifications for instructors in Welding at California Community Colleges: (All degrees and units used to satisfy minimum qualifications must be from accredited institutions.)
• Any associates degree and six years of experience OR
• Any bachelor's degree and two years of experience OR
• The equivalent OR
• Possess a California Community College life credential in the subject matter area
