Job description

Employment Type:Part timeShift:Evening ShiftDescription:Saint Mary's Hospital, Lab Waterbury, CT Please Attach Resume
You would be responsible for phlebotomy (venipunctures) when needed, assists technical staff in preparing equipment and analyzing specimens for patient testing. Maintains proper inventory of reagents and control materials. Performs clerical functions associated with accessioning, result reporting, referred testing and customer service.

What you will do:

  • Collects specimens from patients for subsequent lab analysis in accordance with approved techniques and observes Universal Precautions.

  • Ensures specimen integrity while performing specimen accessioning and processing using established handling, labeling and processing procedures. Where applicable, maintains daily operation of the front end of the instrumentation.

  • Prepares specimens for dispatch to reference laboratory and monitors send-out pending test list/ specimen manifest.

  • Prepares control material, performs preventative maintenance, completes maintenance log and performs instrument quality control, oversees refrigerator and freezer temperature recordings, etc.

Work Hours/Shift:

20 hours, evening shifts, rotating weekends & holidays. Great position for Med Tech students. Must be available on day shifts for EPIC Training during training.


Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma.

  • Experience: 1 year related medical work experience, preferably in Lab environment.

  • Certification: Nat'l Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
