Overview

The Interior Designer leads the interior design process for luxury residential projects, guiding clients from concept through construction documentation. This role creates thoughtful, functional, and high-end interiors while leading clients through material and finish selections, developing detailed design documentation, and ensuring all design decisions are complete before construction begins.


Working closely with the Architectural, Production, Procurement, and Consultant teams, the Interior Designer ensures designs are cohesive, code-compliant, and construction-ready while delivering an exceptional client experience. This role requires a strong understanding of residential building codes, NKBA design guidelines, and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Client Experience

  • Guide clients through interior design selections, including finishes, fixtures, cabinetry, lighting, and furnishings.
  • Build trusted client relationships while managing expectations, budgets, and design decisions.
  • Prepare and lead client design presentations and meetings.

Design Development

  • Develop creative, functional, and buildable interior design solutions aligned with project goals.
  • Prepare plans, elevations, renderings, and presentation materials using approved design software.
  • Coordinate design intent with the Architectural, Production, and Consultant teams.
  • Ensure all interior selections are complete, documented, and construction-ready.

Project Coordination

  • Manage multiple projects while meeting design milestones and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with consultants, vendors, and trade partners to support project execution.
  • Review drawings and documentation for accuracy, constructability, and quality.

Documentation & Industry Leadership

  • Maintain finish schedules, specifications, material selections, and client approvals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of high-end residential interior design experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit; experience with SketchUp, D5 Render, Bluebeam, and Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of residential construction, cabinetry design, interior detailing, and California building codes.
  • Experience with kitchen and bath design, including cabinet design, cabinet ordering, and coordinating the cabinet ordering process.
  • Strong presentation, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Comfortable working with high-net-worth residential clients.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work at a desk for extended periods.
