Job description

Description:

As our Food & Beverage Experience Manager, you will lead the evening Food & Beverage operation while creating the experiences, energy, and atmosphere that make Moxy San Diego one of the city's favorite nightlife destinations.

This is not a traditional Food & Beverage Manager role. We're looking for an entrepreneurial leader who thrives on building guest experiences, growing revenue, developing successful activations, and creating partnerships within the local community. You'll be responsible for driving bar sales through innovative programming, entertainment, industry networking, and community engagement while maintaining exceptional service standards, controlling costs, and protecting profitability.

This position is primarily an evening leadership role and requires flexible scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements:

Job Requirements

  • Assist in developing financial goals and strategies to meet or exceed departmental revenue, profit, and guest satisfaction objectives.
  • Accurately forecast food and beverage revenue, labor, and expenses while identifying opportunities to improve profitability.
  • Lead the development and execution of weekly, monthly, and seasonal activations that drive bar traffic, increase guest engagement, and grow revenue.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local DJs, musicians, promoters, influencers, hospitality professionals, and community organizations to create unique guest experiences.
  • Develop and grow successful hospitality industry nights and recurring events that establish the hotel as a destination within the local market.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to develop and execute promotional campaigns, partnerships, social media content, and community outreach initiatives that increase awareness and visitation.
  • Continuously evaluate event performance, guest feedback, and financial results to improve future programming and maximize return on investment.
  • Ensure hotel staff is trained in financial control procedures for cash handling, inventories, receivables, and operational standards.
  • Identify major revenue opportunities, expense risks, and operational challenges while developing proactive solutions.
  • Create and distribute team member schedules in a timely manner while effectively managing labor costs.
  • Develop and implement marketing and sales initiatives for Food & Beverage outlets, including menus, promotions, themed events, package offerings, displays, and presentations within brand and Island Hospitality guidelines.
  • Lead daily evening Food & Beverage operations while maintaining high service standards and an engaging guest experience.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop the Food & Beverage team through ongoing training, accountability, and leadership.
  • Manage and maintain sanitation, cleanliness, safety, and regulatory compliance throughout all Food & Beverage operations to protect company assets and ensure quality service.

Job Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of Food & Beverage operations, hospitality leadership, nightlife, entertainment programming, or high-volume restaurant management.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive revenue through creative programming, promotions, community partnerships, and guest engagement.
  • Experience managing bar operations, nightlife venues, lifestyle hotels, or entertainment-focused Food & Beverage concepts is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to utilize POS systems and Food & Beverage management software.
  • Strong understanding of financial management, labor controls, beverage cost, inventory management, and forecasting.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with creativity, initiative, and a passion for hospitality.
  • Excellent networking, relationship-building, and communication skills.
  • Ability to anticipate, prevent, identify, and solve operational and guest service challenges.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
  • Readily available and approachable for guests while delivering exceptional hospitality.
  • Flexible schedule with availability to work primarily evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
  • Valid Driver's License preferred.
