Job description

ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Service Porter serves as one of the primary customer service roles as it is possibly the first and last person a customer will interact with.  For that reason, a positive and energetic personality is required. This position requires a team player that can assist our customers as well as our service staff. This is an entry level Service Position and a doorway to a Service Career if your career goal is to become an Automotive Technician, Service Advisor, Parts Counter Person, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Requires frequent interactions with our customers, and we want to find a skilled candidate who will contribute to an overall great customer experience.
  • Competent driving ability with manual transmission vehicles
  • Ability to meet the company’s production and quality standards.
  • Wash, park, fuel, road test, retrieve and stage customer vehicles in our service department for repair and or maintenance.
  • Clean the service drive and service shop by either sweeping, mobbing, use of equipment such as a floor scrubber or a combination of various methods
  • Removal of trash, parts, debris, etc., in areas as directed including the ability to move objects up to 45 pounds.
  • May be required to use company parts van to pick-up/retrieve parts for service vehicles from local or out of area dealers to expedite customer repairs.

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:  Position will work in well-lighted/ventilated areas.   Subject to sun exposure, breezy days, odors, etc. throughout the workday.  Fast paced.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Position requires the ability to stand, bend, talk and hear.  Frequently required to walk, stand and bend.  Occasionally required to climb stairs.   Constantly required to use hand and finger to touch, handle, write and feel.  Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.  Must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  Visually needs to read fine print.  Constantly will be required to hear and talk.   Must be able to communicate clearly.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must enjoy working with and establish a good rapport with all ages.
  • Must be able to drive both manual and automatic transmissions.
  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, employees and outside contacts.
  • Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, customers, visitors, vendors and the general public.
  • Willingness to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily with approval.
  • Good time management skills with the ability to understand sense of urgency.

This position may require evening shifts and weekend availability.
