Job description

Position Title: Tasting Room Host

Department: WP The Vault

Location: WhistlePig Distilling & Bottling - Brandenburg, KY

Reports To: General Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Status: Part-Time

Pay Rate: $20.00/hr

Summary:

As a Tasting Room Host you bring the WhistlePig story to life by leading engaging tastings, educating guests on our rye and bourbon whiskeys, and driving retail bottle and merchandise sales.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Guest Experience & Brand Storytelling

  • Lead engaging, high-energy tasting experiences (standard + premium)
  • Educate guests on:
  • The WhistlePig origin story (Rye Revolution, Vermont Farm, Louisville Vault)
  • Differences between rye and bourbon, including mash bills, flavor profiles, and finishing innovation

2. Product Education

Confidently present and recommend:

  • Core Rye & Bourbon expressions
  • Translate tasting moments into brand connections
  • Tailor recommendations to guest experience level (novice ? collector)

3. Operational Excellence

  • Manage pre- and post-tasting logistics (setup, breakdown, restocking)
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization across tasting and retail areas
  • Capture guest data in CRM for future marketing engagement

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Deep knowledge and passion for whiskey and premium spirits
  • Strong public speaking and storytelling abilities
  • Hospitality experience preferred
  • Weekend/evening availability required

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
