Position Summary
The Farm Equipment Mechanic is a critical technical role supporting Bridgestone's guayule agricultural operations at the Eloy, Arizona facility. This individual will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, modifying, and fabricating a wide range of farm, production, and support equipment to ensure maximum uptime and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate brings hands-on agricultural equipment experience, creative problem-solving ability, works well in a team environment, and the mechanical versatility to work across diverse equipment types.
Responsibilities

Farm & Agricultural Equipment

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on tractors, planters, cultivators, irrigation systems, harvest equipment, and other farm machinery used in guayule production.

  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults and develop effective repair solutions.

  • Maintain complete service records and document all maintenance activities.

  • Coordinate with vendors and outside shops for major repairs or warranty work as needed.

Equipment Modification & Fabrication

  • Collaborate withteammatesto engineer, adapt, and build custom equipment modifications tailored specifically to guayule crop production requirements.

  • Design and fabricate attachments, brackets, guards, and other components using welding, cutting, and metal fabrication techniques.

  • Research and implement innovative mechanical solutions to improve efficiency and productivity in planting, cultivation, and harvest operations.

On-Site Processing Equipment

  • Maintain and repair on-site processing and support equipment including hammer mills, conveyors, and related machinery.

  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and performtimelycorrective maintenance to minimize production disruptions.

  • Source and manage parts and supplies needed for processing equipment repair.

Truck & Vehicle Maintenance

  • Perform routine and corrective maintenance on farm trucks, utility vehicles, and support fleet assets including fluid services, brake work, electrical diagnostics, and drivetrain repairs.

  • Coordinate with vendors and outside shops for major repairs or warranty work as needed.

Shop & Safety

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment in compliance with OSHA and Bridgestone safety standards.

  • Properly handle, store, and dispose of fluids, lubricants, and hazardous materials per regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in safety training and promote a culture of safety throughout the team.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as an agricultural or farm equipment mechanic.

  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and drivetrain components.

  • Proficiencyin MIG/TIG/stick welding and metal fabrication.

  • Experiencemodifyingor building custom farm equipment or attachments.

  • Working knowledge of light to medium-duty truck maintenance and repair.

  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical drawings.

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

  • Must be able to work outdoors in hot desert climate conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with specialty or industrial crop production equipment.

  • Familiarity with hammer mills, extraction or processing equipment, or industrial conveyance systems.

  • Vocational or technical certification in diesel mechanics, ag equipment, or related field (e.g., AED, ASE, or equivalent).

  • Certificate in electrical work

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

  • Experience working in a structured manufacturing or agribusiness environment.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

This position requires regular lifting of up to 50 lbs., frequent bending, kneeling, and working insmallspaces, as well as sustainedoutdoor work in Arizona'shightemperaturedesert environment with exposure to dust, heat, and varying weather conditions.The use of appropriate PPE isrequired at all timesin shop and field settings.
