At GDIT, people are our differentiator. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated VDI/ End User Computing (EUC) Systems Administrator to join our infrastructure team. This role will be responsible for the engineering, deployment, maintenance, optimization, security, and troubleshooting of enterprise Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in desktop virtualization, Windows Systems administration, image management, endpoint security, automation, and enterprise infrastructure services.

This position requires an individual who is passionate about technology, continuously explores new solutions, and proactively drives improvements across the EUC ecosystem. The engineer will play a key role in maintaining secure, compliant, and highly available virtual desktop environments while supporting modernization and automation initiatives.

HOW A SYSTEMS ENGINEER ADVISOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

VDI Administration

  • Design, deploy, upgrade, and maintain enterprise VDI environments.

  • Manage and support virtual desktop infrastructure platforms and related technologies.

  • Troubleshoot complex performance, connectivity, authentication, and user experience issues.

  • Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and environment optimization.

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.

Security, Compliance & Hardening

  • Implement and maintain STIGs and security baselines.

  • Perform operating system hardening and vulnerability remediation activities.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Partner with cybersecurity teams to address findings from vulnerability scans and audits.

  • Support patch management and endpoint security initiatives.

Monitoring & Operations

  • Utilize monitoring and observability tools to proactively identify and resolve infrastructure issues.

  • Analyze performance metrics, logs, alerts


WHAT YOULL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science
Required Experience: 5+ years of related experience

  • Hands-on experience with:

    • VMware Horizon

    • Wyse Management Suite

    • Liquidware

  • Strong knowledge of Windows Desktop operating systems and desktop lifecycle management

  • Experience with profile management technologies and application virtualization

  • Knowledge of network concepts including DNS,DHCP, VPN, TCP/IP, and Load Balancing

  • Experience with monitoring and troubleshooting tools.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of EUC security best practices and Zero Trust Architecture.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $83,927 - $113,549. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
