Job description

The Department of Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine seeks full-time faculty radiologists to join our growing, team-oriented Emergency and Trauma Imaging Section (ETI). This position is for an emergency radiologist to provide imaging services to ED patients from the UM Medical Center, the world-renowned R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, and affiliated hospitals in our medical system. Reflecting the broad scope of the department’s practice, which includes urban, suburban, and rural centers, the ETI section’s clinical service consists of a highly varied and exciting case mix that offer section members a broad array of stimulating diagnostic challenges. Practice is enhanced by strong, cordial relations between the ETI section and the Trauma Surgery and Emergency Medicine services. Coverage will encompass daytime and evening hour (no overnight), and it will involve a flexible mix of both on-site and remote reading. A fully furnished and remotely supported PACS reading system will be supplied by the Department.The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and a distinguishing blend of training and experience in multi-modality imaging suited to an active, robust emergency department environment. Requirements: 1) MD, DO or equivalent degree. 2) American Board of Radiology certified or eligible. 3) Licensed or have the ability to be licensed in the state of Maryland. 4) Fellowship training in Emergency/Trauma Radiology or Neuroradiology is preferred but not required. Similarly, prior emergency radiology experience is desired but not required. 5) Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. Position duties and responsibilities: 1) Interpret case mix customary to emergency radiology (CT, MR, XR, US). 2) Serve as consultant to allied physicians, nurses, and radiology technologists. 3) Provide on-site and remote clinical coverage with a flexible mixture of daytime and evening (not overnight) shift. 4) Provide on-site and remote teaching and supervision of radiology residents.
