How much do estimating supervisor jobs pay per year?

As of Jul 5, 2026, the average yearly pay for estimating supervisor in the United States is $81,677.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $50,000.00 and $116,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

Is an estimator a stressful job?

Estimating supervisors often face stress due to tight deadlines, budget constraints, and the need for accurate cost predictions. The role requires strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, which can contribute to a high-pressure environment.

Who makes more money, a project manager or an estimator?

In the construction industry, project managers generally earn higher salaries than estimators due to their broader responsibilities, leadership roles, and decision-making authority. Estimators focus on preparing cost estimates and may have specialized skills in bidding and cost analysis. Salary differences can vary based on experience, certifications, and company size.

What is the difference between Estimating Supervisor vs Estimator?

AspectEstimating SupervisorEstimator
CredentialsTypically requires experience in estimating and supervisory skillsRequires estimating experience, often with certifications like CPC or similar
Work EnvironmentOversees estimating teams, reviews bids, and manages estimating processesPrepares cost estimates, analyzes project specifications, and submits bids
Industry UsageCommonly found in construction, manufacturing, and engineering firmsUsed across similar industries for project bidding and cost analysis

The main difference is that the Estimating Supervisor manages and oversees the estimating team and process, while the Estimator focuses on preparing individual project estimates. The supervisor has more leadership responsibilities, whereas the estimator is more hands-on with bid calculations.

Will estimators be replaced by AI?

Estimating supervisors oversee the preparation and review of cost estimates for projects, and while AI tools can assist with data analysis and cost modeling, they are unlikely to fully replace the supervisory and decision-making roles of estimators. Human judgment remains essential for interpreting complex project details and ensuring accuracy. Skills in software, data analysis, and industry knowledge are important in this evolving field.

How much do estimators earn?

Estimators in construction and related fields typically earn between $50,000 and $80,000 annually, with experienced estimators or those in specialized industries earning over $100,000. Salary depends on factors such as experience, certifications, industry, and geographic location, and estimators often use estimating software and detailed project analysis in their work.
