Job description

FCM Industries, the parent company of First Coast Mulch, EZ Mulch, and Innovative Mulching, is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Intern to join our team. This internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, multi-entity organization, working directly with the companyโ€™s Controller and senior management. The Accounting Intern will play a key role in supporting daily accounting operations, financial analysis, and reporting, while developing practical skills in a collaborative and supportive environment. This is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates looking to build a strong foundation in accounting and finance within a growing company.

Responsibilities
  • Enter job estimates and verify information accuracy in accounting systems
  • Coordinate with insurance carriers to prepare and deliver certificates of insurance (COIs) to customers
  • Review vendor quantities from bills of lading and standard prices against vendor invoices; perform analyses on delivered versus invoiced quantities
  • Record deposit and cash receipts data, and process remote deposits by scanning checks into bank accounts
  • Assist the Controller in coding and recording accounts payable in QuickBooks Online, reviewing overhead allocations, and reconciling accounts to the general ledger
  • Monitor credit card activity by verifying charges with cardholders, ensuring compliance with company policy, and documenting any discrepancies
  • Develop and maintain a filing system for C-level executives
  • Support other junior staff accountant tasks as needed
  • Prepare and present ad hoc accounting and financial analyses as directed by the Controller and senior management
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reporting materials, confirm report accuracy, and research material variances
Qualifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with strong Excel skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Completion of financial and managerial accounting coursework required; introductory finance and economics coursework is a plus
