Description:
Adult ESL Instructor, 185 Contract days
This role is primarily teaching ESL lower level (1-3) with flexibility to teach higher levels (4-6) based on community need and program enrollment. This role is not assigned to one building; class locations may vary depending on student demand across our SouthWest Metro region.
Teaching hours Morning/Afternoon (M-Thurs), Evening online 2 days a week, with in person prep and tutoring on Fridays.
  • Teach adult English learners using a student-centered, scaffolded curriculum
  • Collaborate with a supportive team of instructors, community ed staff, and administrators
  • Adapt lessons to meet learners' language levels, goals, and cultural experiences
  • Help adult learners build skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing for everyday life, work, and continued education
  • Utilize distance learning opportunities for students

Job Summary:
Provide instruction to student learners in the core content areas as defined by the state of Minnesota, and specifically English Language to non-native populations. Responsibilities include lesson planning and instruction, conducting ongoing assessment, monitoring student attendance, collaborating with other staff, and keeping student records.
Qualifications:
  • Experience working with multicultural populations and English language learners preferred.
  • Minnesota Teaching License in English Language Learners K-12 preferred.
  • Experience with multiple instructional designs and differentiated instruction.
  • Proficient and effective computer skills.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Ability to build successful relationships with students and staff.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with teams.

Pay & Benefits:
