Job description

ICA Language Services is seeking an experienced Turkish language instructor to provide in-person instruction at our facility in Rosslyn, VA.

Job Details:

  • Period of performance: July 20, 2026 - April 23, 2027 (full time, 7/20/26-9/4/26;) & rotating weekly with another instructor (9/7/26-4/23/27)
  • Training days: Monday – Friday
  • Preferred schedule: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm EST (6 hours of teaching + 2 hours of on-site lesson preparation)
  • Schedule note: This project may involve a team-teaching/instructor rotation option

Duties:

  • Plan and conduct intensive Turkish language classes using a variety of teaching techniques and approaches to develop students' listening, reading, and speaking skills
  • Administer weekly quizzes and assessments, and conduct other informal or formal evaluations of students' learning progress
  • Provide monthly written reports of the students' progress to the supervisor and jointly develop plans to address any potential issues
  • Maximize the use of instructional technology and online learning resources in teaching to support independent learning
  • Adjust teaching techniques and approaches to the student's individual learning styles and professional needs
  • Propose and participate in beyond-the-classroom cultural activities in the school and in the DC metro area, such as visits to foreign embassies, cultural centers, restaurants, and shopping areas where native speakers live and congregate, to promote cultural learning

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in foreign language, linguistics, or a related field
  • Minimum two (2) years of full-time experience teaching Turkish to adult students in an intensive setting (4-6 hours a day)
  • Experience teaching US military students
  • Familiarity with DLPT, OPI, and other government-administered tests
  • Knowledge of the ILR scale
  • Experience integrating instructional technology in teaching and assessment
  • Experience using online meeting platforms for teaching, such as Zoom or Teams
  • Native or near-native proficiency (ILR 4 or higher) in the Turkish language
