Title: Pre K-6 Teacher(s)

Reports to: Building Principal

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The DLI teacher reports directly to the building principal. The DLI teacher collaborates with school personnel, parents, and community members to promote the core purposes and goals of the Dual Language Immersion Program.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

● Bachelor’s degree in education

● ENL/ESL Endorsement (Preferred)

● Indiana educator’s license (Current)

● Instructional experience in second language acquisition or bilingual education (Preferred)

● Advanced written and oral proficiency in English and Spanish (Required)

● SIOP and WIDA Trained

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES IN THIS POSITION:

● Creating and implementing the Dual Language Curriculum

● Provide individualized as well as whole group language instruction in both English and Spanish.

● Develop academic language for student success in the content areas.

● Evaluate and keep grades, absentees for each student in a formal record/computer grade book

● Responsible for creating and implementing lesson plans that meet Indiana/WIDA/ISTE standards

● Teaches core content areas in the target language (language arts, math, social studies, science) using the Indiana Academic Standards.

● Integrates both English and Spanish in the teaching of grade level content.

● Possesses demonstrated oral and written fluency in both English and Spanish

● Collaborates with staff, administrators, and parents in the development and implementation of cultural programs/opportunities for students.

● Able to work with students and parents who are culturally, racially and linguistically diverse
