What is an ESG product manager?

ESG Product Managers are professionals responsible for developing, managing, and improving products or services that align with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria. They work at the intersection of sustainability, business strategy, and product development, ensuring that offerings meet both regulatory standards and market demand for responsible products. Their role often involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, monitoring industry trends, and integrating ESG considerations into product roadmaps. This helps companies address stakeholder expectations and enhance their positive impact on society and the environment.

How does an ESG product manager typically collaborate with internal and external stakeholders during product development?

An ESG Product Manager works closely with cross-functional teams—including data analysts, engineers, legal, and marketing—to ensure that products meet sustainability and compliance standards. They also engage with external stakeholders such as clients, industry partners, and regulatory bodies to gather requirements and validate ESG criteria. Regular communication and coordination are essential to align product features with evolving ESG regulations and market needs, making collaboration a core part of the role.
