Job description

Manufacturer based in Jersey City, New Jersey is looking for an on-site, energetic, innovative Product Sourcing Manager. The ideal candidate will be a creative thinker and go-getter who is looking to change the world through product innovation and consumer price accessibility.

This position includes sourcing a full range of battery-powered residential lawn & garden equipment and viable manufacturing vendors around the world. Our senior product sourcing manager will also manage the product development and production cycle ensuring that all products and materials are manufactured in an efficient, safe, cost effective and successful way... and that we deliver value and quality to the end-user.

Responsibilities
  • Source battery-powered residential lawn and garden equipment from top manufacturers across the world. Build category and product portfolio (e.g. Automotive, Watering, Outdoor Cleanup, Gardening, Snow & Ice removal)
  • Be creative, shop out the category, identify opportunities for line extensions
  • Analyze the market, identify white spaces and opportunities and establish brand positioning and consumer insights
  • Develop, lead, and execute sourcing, development and purchasing strategies with vendors in China, Mexico, Vietnam, Taiwan, Thailand and other parts of Asia
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve the effectiveness
  • Translate brand elements into plans and go-to-market strategies
  • Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with vendor partners
  • Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power
  • Monitor market trends, research consumer markets, and competitorsโ€™ activities (regularly conduct retail store shop-outs)
  • Collaborate with sales and design team on product and packaging concepts
  • Closely collaborate with TruVolt's China Sourcing team
  • Liaise and interface with National Sales Team
Requirements
  • BS degree in engineering (electronics) strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of sourcing and vendor management experience, for battery-powered products at a major US consumer products company, is strongly preferred
  • Strong negotiation and networking skills required
  • Strong analytical skills partnered with a creative mind
  • Data-driven thinking and an affinity for numbers
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Up to date with latest trends and best practices within field of product sourcing, and for the residential "power-garden tools" industry
  • Travel to China and other parts of Asia 3-4 times per year
  • After 6 pm WeChat collaboration with China
  • Bilingual English / Mandarin strongly preferred
  • Fully onsite at headquarter location (Jersey City, New Jersey)
