How much do escape velocity jobs pay per hour?

As of Aug 16, 2026, the average hourly pay for escape velocity in the United States is $36.02, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $19.23 and $31.01 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is escape velocity?

Escape velocity is the minimum speed an object must reach in order to break free from the gravitational pull of a planet or other celestial body, without further propulsion. For example, Earth's escape velocity is about 11.2 kilometers per second (approximately 25,000 miles per hour). This concept is crucial in space travel, as rockets must achieve escape velocity to leave Earth's atmosphere and enter outer space. Achieving escape velocity ensures that the object won't fall back to the planet due to gravity.

We're looking for an Implementation Engineer to be the technical voice our customers rely on. You'll support engineering teams during trials and ongoing use, help them integrate and optimize their build workflows, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure a world-class experience.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for trialing, new, and existing customers-offering guidance as they adopt and scale our platform.
  • Troubleshoot, investigate, and resolve complex issues with build systems, integrations, and environments.
  • Help customers optimize their use of EngFlow's products and ensure smooth adoption within their developer workflows.
  • Partner with Engineering to surface and track product bugs, performance regressions, and feature feedback from the field.
  • Create and maintain internal and external documentation to improve future support and empower developers.

  • Contribute to a culture of operational excellence through metrics, tooling improvements, and automation.

Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in software development, technical support, SRE, or developer-facing roles.
  • Strong understanding of developer workflows and build systems (experience with Bazel or Buck/Buck2 is a big plus).
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Go, C++, Java, Python, Rust, or JavaScript).
  • Comfortable in a Linux/Unix environment with experience in tools like Docker, Terraform, or Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with at least one cloud provider (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure, or OpenShift).
  • Great communicator-able to explain complex technical concepts clearly in writing and on calls.
  • Experience writing or contributing to technical documentation or internal knowledge bases.
  • Customer-centric mindset with a passion for helping engineers solve tough problems.
  • Bonus: experience working with async communication and distributed teams.

Benefits
We offer comprehensive medical, dental, vision benefits, 401k/pension, parental leave and generous vacation. The team is fully remote but we enjoy meeting together several times a year at exciting destinations throughout the world. We value getting the work done and having fun while doing it, and have done numerous fun team events such as chocolate, whisky, and tea tastings, monthly team games, escape the room, and other fun events.
