CIBC Capital Markets

The CIBC Capital Markets business provides a range of integrated investment banking, global markets and credit products to clients in key financial markets in North America and around the world. We provide innovative capital solutions and advisory expertise across a wide range of industries. Equity Solutions and Equity Capital Markets

As a member of the Equity Solutions business, you will become an integral part of the fabric of CIBC's New York based Investment Banking team. The environment is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring you to effectively process information in the course of executing transactions for corporate and financial sponsor clients in a constantly changing market environment. The successful candidate will therefore need to adapt to these conditions with creativity, energy and an entrepreneurial spirit in order to meet the evolving demands of the marketplace.

What You'll Be Doing

The Analyst have the opportunity to gain applicable experience in Equity and Equity-Linked underwriting and advisory business as well as Corporate Equity Derivatives, Margin Loans. As a part of the Equity Solutions team, you will gain exposure to many different types of transactions including IPOs, Convertibles + Call Spreads, cross-border transactions, stake acquisitions and financings.

How You'll Succeed

Candidates will need to be effective communicators capable of building relationships both internally and with clients. You will have the responsibility of drafting client presentations, completing internal presentations, and tracking the equity and corporate derivative markets. Additionally, you will provide analytical, structuring, research and transaction due diligence support to senior professionals on the Equity Solutions team, helping to win business and execute transactions. You will partner closely with colleagues across divisions including Corporate and Investment Banking, Global Markets, and Risk Management.

Who You Are

We are looking for individuals who are as passionate about financial markets as they are about making a significant contribution to our firm. The successful candidate for the role will be exceptionally driven and able to thrive in an open, fast pace, and demanding environment. Candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • Knowledge of business, economics and/or finance acquired through education and experience

  • Strong interest in and knowledge of financial markets and an understanding of Equities, Equity-Linked securities and Derivatives

  • Strong preference for candidates with Equity and Equity-Linked experience and an understanding of Corporate Equity Derivative-related concepts

  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial statements

  • An understanding of credit analysis and accounting principles

  • Detail-oriented and able to think logically

  • Excellent writing and presentation skills with the ability to grasp complex concepts quickly

  • Proven ability to contribute to high performance teams

  • Willing to work extended hours in a high pressure/high reward environment

  • Able to take initiative on and manage multiple projects simultaneously

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $115,000-$135,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
