Purple Wave, Inc., is looking for a Heavy Equipment Inspector to travel the States and turn heavy equipment into high-quality auction listings. If you're part road-warrior, part detail-obsessed problem solver, and you love working with trucks, trailers, and iron in the real world- not behind a desk- this role is for you!
The Heavy Equipment Inspector is responsible for collecting information and documentation from sellers of heavy equipment, vehicles, trucks, and trailers. The role involves filling out detailed and accurate listing sheets, taking photos and videos, obtaining service records and titles, and scheduling and completing data capture for equipment being sold on purplewave.com. The Heavy Equipment Inspector will travel throughout the region and communicate effectively with sellers to ensure a smooth auction process.
Responsibilities:
  • Communicate Purple Wave's auction process clearly and effectively to sellers.
  • Schedule, complete, and document data capture for equipment being sold on purplewave.com.
  • Gather and organize necessary information and documentation, including service records and titles.
  • Complete detailed and accurate listing sheets and take high-quality photos and videos.
  • Represent the company in a professional and ethical manner to heavy equipment owners, buyers, and sellers.
  • Responsible for gathering and entering customer information and opportunities in CRM and other applications to maintain a high level of communication to all team members.
  • Assist Marketing department with the creation of social media videos. Distribute promotional and marketing materials across various channels to effectively reach target audiences and enhance brand visibility.
  • Support sellers in preparing assets for sale, including tasks such as but not limited to jump-starting vehicles, cleaning out assets, removing decals, and ensuring assets are presentation-ready and appealing to potential buyers.
  • Undertake additional assigned duties as requested.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None.

Qualifications:
  • High School Degree or GED.
  • Ability to travel extensively when required.
  • Knowledge of fleet, heavy agriculture and construction equipment.
  • Proficiency in various technologies, tools, and systems to gather and share information electronically.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent people skills and ability to maintain high ethical standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Not Required: Bid calling skills and auction experience.
  • Candidates may be requested to complete position specific skills assessment testing.
  • Spanish speaking bi-lingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Applicants must be either a U.S. Citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Requires the ability to successfully complete a background check.
  • Candidates must possess a valid state driver's license in compliance with the laws and regulations of the relevant jurisdiction.

Working Settings:
  • Full-time Salaried Exempt, not eligible for overtime.
  • Flexibility in schedule and ability to work outside of standard business hours.
  • Expected to travel up to 75% of the time.
  • Please note that this position is physically demanding and requires regular climbing, lifting, and physical exertion. The Heavy Equipment Inspector will be required to climb on, over, and under heavy equipment and vehicles, and lift and move equipment and parts weighing up to 50 pounds.

Compensation:
  • Competitive salary paid bi-weekly and commission paid monthly, estimated range of combined compensation for the first year is $55,000-$65,000 annually. Commission structure is designed to reward high performance and offers potential for growth based on job performance and is not capped.
  • Company vehicle provided.
  • This position includes company-provided cell phone and computer equipment.
  • Health, Dental, and Vision starting the first of the month after start date.
  • 401(k) plan with an employer match up to 4% starting the first day of employment.
  • Company-paid Life Insurance benefit of $25,000 with options to add more through employee contribution starting the first of the month after start date.
  • Fully paid Short-Term Disability provided by the Company.
  • Personal Time Off (PTO) annual amount of 120 hours which is prorated based on the number of days between the 60th day of employment and the end of the calendar year. May vary to comply with state requirements.
  • Eligible to participate in the Company Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP) after 90 days of employment, with enrollment opportunities each May and November.
