The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is searching for a qualified Equipment Technician. The Equipment Technician is responsible for the preparation, set-up, troubleshooting and coordination of services and repair for all clinical equipment in the Operating Room. Participates in the care, preparation and maintenance of equipment and supplies in the OR. Participates in the set-up, opening and breakdown of a case in the OR.


Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited high school
  • BLS certification from AHA
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more
  • Ability to push carts/stretchers with weights more than 300 pounds
  • Ability to stand or/walk for a long period
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, ability to see small objects/letters/numbers, color vision and the ability to see and distinguish different colors, and the ability to adjust focus

Preferred:

  • Minimum of one year experience with cleaning and distribution process of medical equipment preferred

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full-Time, Night Shift (37.5 hours per week)


Essential Functions:

  • Assists in the assembling of equipment and supplies in preparation for various operative procedures performed by physicians or nurses. Cleans and returns equipment as necessary.
  • Assists in transporting patients to and from the OR.
  • Assists the nurse with personal needs of the patient such as changing gowns, blankets, cleansing and positioning.
  • Assures all equipment is properly checked by the Biomedical Department (i.e. sticker and appropriate date) and acts as a liaison with Biomed regarding product recalls.
  • Responsible for the retrieval and distribution of equipment ensures adequate levels of patient care equipment to meet patients needs
  • Responsible for the cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of patient care equipment
  • Assumes responsibility for the tracking and documentation of aspects of management of patient care equipment
