Epicor Implementation information

What is Epicor implementation?

Epicor implementation refers to the process of setting up, configuring, and deploying the Epicor Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software within an organization. This process includes assessing business needs, migrating data, customizing workflows, training staff, and ensuring the system integrates smoothly with existing processes. A successful implementation helps organizations streamline operations, improve efficiency, and support growth. The process may be managed by in-house teams, Epicor consultants, or third-party experts depending on the scale and complexity of the deployment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Epicor Implementation Specialist?

To thrive as an Epicor Implementation Specialist, you need a solid background in ERP systems, business process analysis, and project management, often supported by a relevant degree and experience in enterprise software deployment. Familiarity with Epicor ERP software, SQL databases, and related certifications such as Epicor Certified Professional are typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, communication, and the ability to manage change effectively are crucial soft skills in this role. These abilities ensure smooth system adoption, minimize disruptions, and help organizations achieve operational efficiency during ERP transitions.

What are some common challenges faced during an Epicor Implementation project and how can they be addressed?

One of the most common challenges in an Epicor Implementation role is managing change resistance among end-users, as introducing a new ERP system can disrupt established workflows. Additionally, ensuring data accuracy during migration and aligning software configuration with unique business processes can be complex. To address these challenges, successful implementers focus on clear communication, thorough training sessions, and involving key stakeholders early in the project. Regular collaboration with cross-functional teams and maintaining detailed documentation also help ensure a smoother implementation process.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Epicor Project Manager to lead Epicor Kinetic/Epicor ERP implementation projects for manufacturing and distribution organizations.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record managing ERP implementations from project kickoff through go-live and post-implementation review, with strong experience in project planning, stakeholder management, risk management, budgets, schedules, and change control.

This is a hands-on project management role working closely with ERP consultants, client leadership, plant/operations teams, technical resources, and Epicor stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Epicor Kinetic / Epicor ERP (E10) implementations from initiation through go-live and post-implementation review.

  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, milestones, resources, and deliverables.

  • Manage project scope, requirements, risks, issues, dependencies, and change requests.

  • Coordinate internal consultants, client project teams, subject-matter experts, and Epicor resources.

  • Facilitate project kickoff meetings, status meetings, steering committee meetings, and project reviews.

  • Provide clear and timely communication to executive stakeholders, management, project teams, and plant-floor personnel.

  • Monitor overall project health and proactively identify potential schedule, budget, resource, or scope issues.

  • Track project progress against established milestones and deliverables.

  • Manage escalations and develop corrective action plans when projects move off track.

  • Maintain project documentation, status reports, action items, risk registers, and project governance.

  • Support multiple concurrent ERP engagements and maintain visibility into overall portfolio health.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of project delivery processes, methodologies, and best practices.

  • Follow the Epicor Signature Methodology throughout the implementation lifecycle.

Candidates should have practical familiarity with the major stages of the Epicor Signature Methodology, including:

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of ERP project management experience, preferably supporting manufacturing or distribution organizations.

  • Hands-on experience managing Epicor Kinetic or Epicor E10 implementation projects - REQUIRED.

  • Demonstrated experience managing ERP implementations through go-live.

  • Strong understanding of project management fundamentals, including:

    • Scope management

    • Schedule management

    • Budget management

    • Risk and issue management

    • Resource management

  • Ability to communicate effectively with both executive leadership and operational/plant-floor teams.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and concurrent projects in a consulting environment.

  • Willingness to travel occasionally to client locations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management certification.

  • Experience working within the Epicor partner, consulting, or implementation ecosystem.

  • Epicor-related training or certifications.

  • Experience with manufacturing, distribution, supply chain, or other ERP-intensive environments.

What We're Looking For

This position is best suited for an ERP Project Manager who has actually managed Epicor implementations, rather than a general PM who has only worked with ERP systems.

The successful candidate should be able to clearly explain:

  • Which Epicor Kinetic/E10 implementations they have managed.

  • Their specific role and responsibilities on each implementation.

  • The project scope, size, and duration.

  • Their involvement from planning through deployment/go-live.

  • Competitive base salary

  • Annual performance bonus based on individual and team performance

  • Medical and dental benefits

  • 401(k) with company match after the introductory period

  • Fully remote work environment

  • Company-provided laptop and required software

  • Support for maintaining PM certifications

  • Ongoing Epicor training and professional development

  • Occasional travel to client sites
