Job Description:
Location: Roseville, CA (Hybrid - 2 days onsite required)
Role Overview
We are hiring an Expert-level Software Engineer to design and develop embedded software for HPE wired networking switches. This role is ideal for a strong technical leader who remains highly hands-on while owning architecture, guiding feature development, and mentoring engineers.
Key Responsibilities
  • Own a feature area end-to-end, including architecture, design, implementation, and delivery.
  • Design, develop, debug, and maintain embedded software using C (required) on Linux-based systems; Python for tooling and testing as needed.
  • Perform architectural design, system planning, and feature-level ownership aligned with overall product architecture.
  • Break down work into tasks, coordinate execution, and lead feature delivery across the team.
  • Conduct code reviews, ensure software quality, and mentor junior engineers.
  • Write and execute test plans; debug integration issues and drive solutions.
  • Collaborate with management and cross-functional teams to communicate design status and resolve issues.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong proficiency in C and experience developing embedded software on Linux.
  • Experience with system-level design, architectural decision-making, and feature ownership.
  • Proven ability to lead technically while remaining hands-on.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ software development experience (strongly desired)
  • Networking experience in wired networking or switch platforms.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives.
