Tauri information

What is a Tauri developer?

Tauri developers are software engineers or programmers who specialize in building desktop applications using the Tauri framework. Tauri is an open-source toolkit that allows developers to create lightweight, secure, and cross-platform desktop apps using web technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, while leveraging Rust for the backend. These developers are skilled in both frontend and backend coding and are familiar with integrating web-based user interfaces into native desktop environments. Their work often involves optimizing applications for performance, security, and cross-platform compatibility.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Tauri developer?

To thrive as a Tauri Developer, you need strong proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript, a solid understanding of Rust, and experience with front-end frameworks like React or Vue. Familiarity with the Tauri framework, Node.js, and build tools, as well as knowledge of security best practices, is typically required. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are important soft skills in this role. These abilities ensure the creation of secure, performant, and user-friendly desktop applications that meet project requirements and industry standards.

What are some common challenges developers face when building desktop applications with Tauri?

Developers using Tauri often encounter challenges related to integrating web technologies with native system capabilities. Ensuring smooth communication between the frontend (built with frameworks like React or Vue) and the Rust-based backend can require careful handling of APIs and security permissions. Additionally, optimizing application performance while maintaining a small bundle size is a key focus, as Tauri is known for its lightweight footprint. Collaboration with designers and QA teams is also important to test cross-platform compatibility and deliver a polished user experience.

What is the difference between Tauri vs Front-End Developer?

AspectTauriFront-End Developer
Primary RoleBuilds desktop applications using web technologies with a focus on security and performanceCreates and maintains websites and web applications for various platforms
Required SkillsRust, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, knowledge of desktop app developmentHTML, CSS, JavaScript, frameworks like React or Angular
Work EnvironmentSoftware development teams, often in tech companies or startupsWeb development teams, agencies, or freelance work
Industry UsageTech, software development, desktop app marketWeb design, digital marketing, e-commerce

While Tauri focuses on building secure desktop applications with web technologies, Front-End Developers primarily create websites and web apps. Both roles require knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, but Tauri developers also need Rust skills and familiarity with desktop app development. The work environments overlap in tech companies, but their end products differ significantly.

Job description

Build the core interface and system layer. TypeScript, Rust, and product-level thinking required.

Kodezi isn’t just another dev tool. It’s the orchestration layer beneath your software.
We’re building Kodezi OS, a real-time, cross-platform operating system that heals, evolves, and documents codebases autonomously.

As a Founding Full-Stack Engineer, you’ll lead the creation of high-impact interfaces — from our system-level dashboard to the developer CLI. You’ll work closely with design, infra, and AI teams to ship performant, modular systems that empower millions of developers.

This role is in-person in San Francisco, with remote options across North America and Europe for exceptional candidates.

Architect and build core frontend interfaces using TypeScript, React, and Framer Motion

Design and implement developer-facing CLI tools, triggers, and workflows

Build and maintain our cross-platform desktop app using Tauri (Rust) for secure and lightweight distribution

Create intelligent runtime interactions like dependency maps, entropy visualizations, and self-healing suggestions

Integrate with external APIs and tools like GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, observability stacks, and developer platforms

Collaborate with AI infrastructure to surface agent actions and insights across the product

Establish engineering best practices focused on performance, modularity, and cross-system orchestration

4+ years of experience building and shipping full-stack applications

Strong background in TypeScript, React, and Node.js

Hands‑on experience building CLI tools and working with file systems or local development environments

Experience with Tauri, Rust, or other native application frameworks

Familiarity with cross‑platform tooling and system‑level integrations such as global hotkeys and secure storage

Ability to work across frontend, backend, and systems logic with a deep understanding of the full development flow

Experience with code transformation tools, LSPs, Git internals, or DevOps platforms

Design sensibility or familiarity with Figma, Framer, or custom component libraries

Be one of the first 5 engineers shaping the operating system for autonomous code

Tackle problems that blend UI/UX, developer infrastructure, real‑time systems, and AI coordination

Build something that helps millions of developers fix less and focus more

Thrive in a high‑trust environment with full ownership from day one

Work with a team of deeply technical builders who value architecture, craft, and long‑term thinking

What You’ll Get
  • Competitive salary: We pay for talent, not timezone
  • Equity: Real ownership in the OS for code
  • Workspace stipend: Pick your gear with no red tape
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage: Stay sharp and stay well
  • 40+ hours/year for learning and growth: Use it for conferences, courses, books — whatever fuels you
  • Flexible PTO: No approvals needed. Rest when you need
  • Annual team offsite: We meet in person to connect, reflect, and build
  • Full developer stack access: Get the tools you need, no friction
  • Zero micromanagement: You’re here to lead, not follow

We’re not looking for employees. We’re looking for early believers.

Kodezi isn’t a job.

It’s a bet on a better future for code—and the operating system to sustain it.
