Job Summary:
Provides specialized expertise and routine analysis to support the successful implementation and operation of Epic software. Collaborates with IT staff, Epic personnel, and end users to deliver operational support and advance key electronic health record initiatives.
Education & Experience
Education and Experience Required: High school diploma or GED.
Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required:
Epic certification or accreditation. If not, Epic certified or accredited, must obtain Epic certification or accreditation within six (6) months of date of hire. An Epic assessment will be given to those candidates who pass the initial review step of the interview process.
Preferred Qualifications:
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Associate in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CAHIMSS), or Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMMSS).
Experience in a healthcare/healthcare organization, clinical practice, information technology, accounting, finance, healthcare revenue cycle, clinical informatics. or Epic application build/optimization preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Researches, tests, troubleshoots, documents, releases, implements, and supports department-supported applications.
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and training to staff; assists in developing training materials and training users.
  • Applies creative thinking to resolve problems; identifies and corrects technical issues.
  • Works with IS staff, vendors, users, and operational owners to design and enhance applications and business processes.
  • Prepares specifications, documents issues, tasks, project status, and actual resource hours in accordance with standards and policies.
  • Develops test plans, conducts testing/debugging, and ensures smooth implementation and integration of systems at project/ticket level.
  • Participates in project teams and special assignments; meets goals and deadlines.
  • Provides support to end users and fosters positive relationships with internal teams, UMMC units, and vendors.
  • Ensures adherence to internal policies, procedures, and the UMMC corporate compliance program.
  • Implements business continuity procedures to maintain system reliability.
  • Maintains effective communication with supervisors, team members, and customers.
  • Stays current with emerging technologies and evolving operational needs; serves as a resource to staff.
