SUMMARY
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Clinical Informatics Educator to provide educational expertise and system knowledge that ensures staff competency in clinical informatics and health information technology. This role focuses on educating pharmacy staff and clinical teams - including inpatient and outpatient physicians and nursing staff - on the effective use and integration of the electronic health record (EHR), Epic Willow, and related technologies that support care delivery.
The Clinical Informatics Educator partners closely with pharmacy, clinical, and IT teams to support the implementation, optimization, and adoption of the EHR, clinical decision support (CDS) tools, and other health technologies. Through education, training, and workflow support, this role contributes to improved quality of care, patient safety, and operational efficiency.
This is a full-time position working onsite, Monday through Friday. Position may require travel between both Dallas and Plano main campuses as well as clinic sites across the DFW region. Epic system application certification in Willow Ambulatory, Inpatient, or Inventory is required within 12 months of hire.
Responsibilities
  • New-Hire Training: Facilitates training for new pharmacy staff and documents training completion for records management. This also includes the development and maintenance of training users and patients in the training environment.
  • Training and Support: Design, develop, and deliver comprehensive training programs on the EHR system. Customize training materials and sessions to meet the needs of different user groups.
  • System Changes / Upgrades: Work with IT, clinical, and operations teams to ensure successful deployment and integration of system changes and upgrades. Ensures proper communication to impacted clinical staff and operational teams. Act as a liaison between staff and IT teams to address workflow issues and system functionality concerns.
  • Sustainability and Continuous Support: Provide ongoing support for clinic staff and serve as a point of contact for answering questions and providing expert guidance on EHR related challenges. This includes ongoing efficiency training as well as unit/clinic rounding, elbow/1:1/group support, and assistance with real-time issues.
  • System Training Environments: Configures and maintains the training environment for clinical systems used for new-hire training, test-outs, and practice for new features and clinical workflows.
  • Project Support: Provides training expertise by providing go-live support during implementation of major system-wide projects.

How You'll Be Successful:
WORK EXPERIENCE
  • At least 2 years of previous teaching experience Required

EDUCATION
  • Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Required
  • Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience Preferred

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Epic System Application Curriculum Certification (required within 12 months of hire) 1 Year Required
  • Epic Training Environment Build Certification Preferred
  • Certification in Nursing Informatics Preferred
