Job Description Summary:
The Director of Clinical Informatics will oversee and facilitate the integration of clinical processes with information technology using clinical informatics science and methodologies with a focus on inpatient providers.This position will hold responsibility for the functional leadership and operational support of clinical information systems utilized by inpatient providers at the system level with oversight of the inpatient provider informatics team, a multidisciplinary team. This position will collaborate with clinical leadership, medical staff, operations, and other departments across the system, in accordance with evidence-based practices, processes, and procedures.
*This is a hybrid position in Columbus, OH
Responsibilities And Duties:
Facilitates the implementation and application of clinical/health informatics within clinical operations.Leads the inpatient provider informatics team.
Serves as a liaison between clinical end users and the information services (IS) department.
Collaborates with IS leadership.
Collaborates with clinical leadership as provider champions for the electronic health record.
Collaborates with other clinical informatics leaders as a part of the clinical informatics matrix team.
Ensures information systems are consistent with professional standards of provider clinical practice and hospital policies.
Ensures policies match clinical practice, and that these policies and practices are standardized throughout the system.
Participate in leading the development and maintenance of policies and procedures relevant to clinical information systems.
Leads the implementation of provider specific items related to the electronic health record and other health information technologies; facilitates upgrades, and enhancements acceptable to achieve business needs, improve patient care and patient outcomes.
Conducts analysis of clinical environments and works with clinical and care site leaders to facilitate and optimize effective workflows and documentation in electronics systems.
Identifies, develops, and utilizes appropriate forums to solicit input and provide feedback in the development of clinical practice and clinical/health informatics.
Participates in quality, patient safety, and performance improvement initiatives.
Serves on multiple project teams; serves as leader on projects.
Maintains and keep up to date knowledge base of current technology trends and practices as it relates to clinical information systems and clinical/health informatics.
Serves as a liaison between clinical operations and IS.
Serves and protects the organization by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and the Joint Commission.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining certifications, maintaining professional networks, and participating in professional organizations.
Maintains vendor knowledge and relationships with regular participation in national forums and networks.
Enhances hospital reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value.

- Master's Degree in Clinical or Health Informatics, Nursing, or other healthcare related field.
Years of experience:
- 7+ years of experience in clinical/operational leadership and clinical practice in a hospital or major medical center.
- 5+ years of experience in clinical/health informatics, planning and executing projects in a hospital or major medical center with evidence of clinical information system use and implementation in a hospital or major medical center; licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice nursing or other healthcare related field as applicable in the state of Ohio.
