Position Title: Technical Project Manager (Healthcare IT / EMR)
Location: Remote
Position Status: Contract
Role Overview
We are seeking a Technical Project Manager to lead complex healthcare technology initiatives, including EMR implementations, system integrations, and optimization projects. This role is ideal for a proactive leader who excels at driving cross-functional collaboration, managing competing priorities, and delivering measurable business outcomes. You'll own projects end-to-end-balancing scope, timelines, budget, and quality-while partnering closely with senior leadership, clinical stakeholders, and third-party vendors.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery
  • Lead multiple concurrent IT and healthcare technology projects across the full project lifecycle (initiation through closure)
  • Develop and execute project plans, timelines, and resource strategies aligned with business goals
  • Apply Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies based on project needs
  • Proactively manage risks, issues, dependencies, and change control processes
  • Ensure high-quality deliverables through governance, QA processes, and project standards

Stakeholder & Executive Engagement
  • Partner with senior leadership, clinical teams, and business stakeholders to align on priorities and outcomes
  • Communicate project status, risks, and insights through clear, data-driven reporting and presentations
  • Facilitate effective meetings and maintain strong cross-functional collaboration
  • Navigate complex or sensitive discussions with professionalism and clarity

Healthcare Technology Execution
  • Lead EMR/EHR implementations and enhancements (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Provation, HST)
  • Oversee HL7 integrations, system interfaces, and optimization initiatives
  • Translate clinical and business needs into scalable technical solutions
  • Build deep understanding of healthcare workflows, operations, and compliance requirements

Financial & Vendor Management
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost controls
  • Ensure accurate invoicing, contract management, and financial tracking
  • Collaborate with vendors, consultants, and third-party partners to ensure delivery excellence

Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems, and project delivery frameworks
  • Champion best practices in project management, governance, and technology utilization

Qualifications & Experience
Required
  • 3-5+ years of experience in Technical Project Management, IT Project Management, or Healthcare IT
  • Proven success delivering EMR/EHR implementations and healthcare technology projects
  • Experience with HL7 interfaces, system integrations, and healthcare workflows
  • Strong knowledge of Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in dynamic environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Office, Teams, SharePoint), Microsoft Project, or similar tools
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and senior executives

Preferred
  • Hands-on experience with Epic, Cerner, Provation, HST, or similar EMR systems
  • Background in clinical roles (e.g., Nursing, Medical Assistant)
  • Experience with ServiceNow or ITSM tools
  • PMP, CAPM, or other Project Management certifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Healthcare Administration, or related field
  • PMP certification or equivalent is a plus
