What is Epic Imaging?

Epic Imaging refers to a healthcare organization or department that specializes in diagnostic imaging services, such as X-rays, MRI, CT scans, and ultrasounds. These services are essential for diagnosing and monitoring a wide range of medical conditions. The term 'Epic' may also reference the use of the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system, which helps manage patient imaging orders, scheduling, and results. Epic Imaging professionals work with advanced equipment and collaborate closely with physicians and technologists to ensure accurate and timely imaging services. Their work is critical for guiding patient care and treatment decisions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Epic Imaging analyst?

To excel as an Epic Imaging Analyst, you need a strong background in healthcare IT, medical imaging workflows, and preferably a degree in health informatics or a related field. Proficiency with Epic Radiant, PACS systems, and an Epic certification are typically required. Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills help analysts collaborate with clinical staff and troubleshoot system issues effectively. These competencies ensure imaging solutions are optimized for clinical efficiency and patient safety within healthcare organizations.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in Epic Imaging roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in Epic Imaging roles often face challenges such as adapting to frequent software updates, ensuring data accuracy during image integration, and collaborating with clinical staff to optimize workflow efficiency. Staying current with Epic system updates and participating in ongoing training can help address technical challenges. Building strong communication channels with clinical teams and IT staff is also crucial for troubleshooting and implementing new imaging solutions effectively.

Job description

Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) is a non-profit corporation that provides culturally sensitive health care to the American Indian population. OKCIC services include not only basic medical care but also dental, optometry, behavioral health, fitness, nutrition, and other family programs.

Our mission is to provide excellent healthcare to American Indians. We do this by putting people first, providing quality services, and maintaining our Integrity and Professionalism.

We are looking to add compassionate team players to our growing team as we continue to work toward our goal of becoming the national model for American Indian Health Care.

The Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) is implementing Epic, and we're seeking an experienced Epic Radiant Application Analyst to help design, configure, and optimize the technology supporting our Radiology Department.

In this role, you'll work alongside radiologists, imaging technologists, providers, and technical teams to build efficient workflows for scheduling, imaging orders, documentation, results management, and system integration. Your work will directly improve diagnostic imaging operations and help ensure patients receive timely, accurate, and coordinated care.

If you're passionate about healthcare technology, radiology workflows, and solving complex technical challenges, we'd love to hear from you.

Applicants claiming Indian Preference must complete the full application and must provide documentation verifying eligibility (such as a tribal enrollment card or Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB)).

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain Radiant-specific scheduling queues, provider documentation templates, and radiologist reading worklists
  • Configure order transmittal logic to ensure radiology orders route seamlessly from ambulatory clinics to imaging systems
  • Partner with technical infrastructure teams to support and test HL7 interfaces between Radiant and PACS/imaging systems
  • Collaborate with radiology personnel to analyze operational workflows, configure templates, and maintain charge capture settings
  • Develop and execute system testing plans for diagnostic documentation, results delivery, and critical value alerting

The Oklahoma City Indian Clinic is a nonprofit organization, not a federal employer. Indian preference hiring laws apply. The Clinic is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) employer. The Clinic adheres to all applicable laws prohibiting discrimination in employment, including protections based on race, color, sex, national origin, age, disability, religion, veteran status, and other characteristics as required by federal, state, or local law.

  • Must align with OKCIC vision, mission, and core values
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Radiologic Sciences, Health Informatics, Healthcare Information Technology, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, or a related clinical or technical field required. An equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience may be substituted, with one (1) year of additional relevant experience accepted in lieu of each year of required education.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience supporting healthcare information technology, electronic health records (EHR), radiology information systems (RIS), imaging applications, or enterprise healthcare applications required.
  • Candidates must successfully pass the Epic Sphinx Assessment as part of the interview and selection process to be eligible for employment in this position.
  • Experience configuring, implementing, testing, supporting, or optimizing Epic Radiant or other radiology information systems is strongly preferred. Experience supporting diagnostic imaging workflows, radiology scheduling, order management, documentation, results reporting, charge capture, PACS integration, or HL7 interfaces preferred.
  • Working knowledge of outpatient radiology operations, diagnostic imaging workflows, imaging informatics, regulatory requirements, and healthcare technology best practices preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze clinical and operational workflows, translate business requirements into technical solutions, troubleshoot application issues, and optimize system performance.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with radiologists, imaging technologists, providers, operational leaders, and technical stakeholders.
  • Epic certification, accreditation, or proficiency in Radiant or assigned application(s) preferred.
  • Certification may be required based on the assigned application or role responsibilities.
  • Current certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or other applicable imaging credentials may be preferred for certain analyst assignments based on application responsibilities.
  • Other clinical, technical, or professional certifications may be required based on assigned responsibilities.
  • Must maintain all required certifications, credentials, and continuing education applicable to the position throughout employment.
