Job description

Cooperidge Consulting Firm is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Vascular Surgical Step Down for a top healthcare client in Roanoke, VA.

This role offers the opportunity to join a dynamic cardiovascular team providing advanced care for post-surgical cardiac and vascular patients. The RN will deliver high-quality, compassionate care while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team focused on recovery, safety, and patient outcomes in a fast-paced, team-oriented step-down environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care for cardiac and vascular surgical patients in a step-down setting.
  • Conduct age-specific assessments and implement individualized care plans based on clinical findings.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the healthcare team to ensure coordinated care.
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately, following hospital policy and documentation standards within EPIC EMR.
  • Monitor patient progress and revise care plans in response to changes in condition.
  • Educate patients and families on post-surgical recovery, medication management, and cardiac health.
  • Maintain a commitment to excellence in safety, quality, and patient satisfaction.

Requirements

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing or program eligible for Virginia licensure.

Experience

  • Cardiac or post-surgical step-down experience preferred, but not required.

Certifications/Licenses

  • Virginia RN license (or eligibility).
  • CPR certification required; ACLS, PALS, and NRP as applicable within one year of hire.
