To thrive as an Epic Director, you need extensive experience in healthcare IT project management, a deep understanding of Epic electronic health record (EHR) systems, and often a bachelor's or master's degree in health informatics, IT, or a related field. Familiarity with Epic certifications such as Epic Ambulatory or Epic Inpatient, along with project management tools like Microsoft Project and agile methodologies, is commonly expected. Outstanding leadership, strategic planning, and communication skills are essential for guiding multidisciplinary teams, managing stakeholders, and driving large-scale implementations.
